It really just hit me, just how awesome was the effort of the pioneers in America who did these clearance tasks (often faced with much bigger trees) using axes crosscut saws ropes pulleys horses oxens etc.

For those that might not know this dozer ,D9G was when Caterpillar was real Caterpillar. Not the trash they make now!!! Like it or not!

Good operator, no rip tear or bust easy on the machine. It's clearly the owner running this dozer.

Why do companies buy new equipment? This machine can do everything a modern dozer can do, I don't really understand the point of buying new bulldozers when all you have to do is pushing disrt or ripping the ground. Lower fuel consumption? Easier to fix? (doubt it) Does anybody who's in the business know?

Partly because of emissions standards, Operator comfort, fuel economy to name a few. You don't get a good Operator on an older machine without climate control. Parts and service; if you don't lease a new one and even if you do, it is a headache and a half. You trade out of repairs and you just throw money to the wind. Someone has to pay for it either way, the customer or the contractor. You can stay home and do nothing to lose less money sometimes.

Precisely the reason that old bruiser is working and performing very well is because the operator is being reasonable and sensible and Not pounding the piss out of this unit is why its still performing well and putting in a solid day's work each day ,smart experience ed operator slash probably owner

A novice operator would have had it in 2nd gear and 3/4 throttle beating the crap out of it. This guy knows what he's doing. No track slip, no crash and bang, Good job.
@grahamstretch6863

Truly a novice commenter, us experienced commenters noticed the state of the tracks (almost no grousers left) and sprockets (badly worn), if they pushed it the way you suggest if the tracks didn’t slip on the dirt the sprockets would probably slip in the tracks! 🙄
