I think it is admirable that you are admitting that you don't know exactly what you are doing. This gives other newbies hope that we can sail without extensive knowledge.

My most fun sailing is just ghosting along slurping down iced tea 🥃👍👍🇺🇸

I'm sure you've worked it out since...but your windward (in this case starboard) jib sheet should be running free, and you need to have your leeward (in this case port side) sheet hauled in much closer. It looked like at 2:29 your lazy (not active) sheet was cleated on. Great video series ...awesome for people to learn from.

Yea, that was the first time we sailed with the Jib over a year ago so it's fun to look back and see what we didn't know. At least with sailing, there's plenty of down time where you can mess with sail trim and see what changes. I'm currently interested in sail twist and understanding how to change that more. Thanks for the comment!

@@AdventuresInParadise And the videos help "correct" mistakes. When we race, we always have another crew member check the rigging we have just done. Something is always backwards or wrong.

Does anyone know what year/Hull number the Pop Top became standard and not an option?

Thanks for the video! I havent put out my jib sailing on my C-22, so that was interesting. I have an '81 #10264 so mine looks pretty similar. What rigging are you using to attach to jib to the stem? Your jib looks much higher off the deck than mine.

Terry, the jib will be the same, it just might look higher when it's filled with wind. I feel like it doubles the boat speed, so if I was getting 1.5 knots with the main, I get 2.8 or 3 with the jib helping. The jib attaches to the bow with a snap shackle that's on maybe a 6 inch cable at the bow.

@@AdventuresInParadise Ok...I dont have the 6" cable, just a snap shackle that goes directly to the plate. I need to find something to get it up just a bit.

Definitely put all the hanks on prior to trying to raise it - don't follow how I did it in this video! LOL... gotta start somewhere! I bought the "all lines to the cockpit" kit so I can raise the sails without climbing forwards. I also got the jib downhaul kit so I can lower the jib from the cockpit. I'll make a video of the install soon.

How did you stow your jib after sailing? I raised my jib for the first time yesterday at the mooring, just to go through the motions before actually sailing with it. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to put it away.. I basically just folded it like an elastic fitted sheet and stuffed it in the bag.

I just stuffed it into my sail bag, but you want to stuff it so that the bottom comes out first, so when you install it, you can intall it as it comes out of the bag. If you don't do this, you might end up with it all over the deck or in the water while you're trying to figure out what the top and bottom is, or you might install it upside down.
