So good to see a Captain that really knows how the Goliath Grouper grows. Yes you are spot on, about their sexual preferences, they take time. The season should be closed for the next four to five years, then a stick limit on the catch. Thanks Capt, we need more voices like yours. From a old Fisherman, who fished Morco Island back in the 50s and 60s. Keep telling it like it is.

Yo correct me if I'm wrong but there is 14 pounds of air pressure up here and depending on the depth of water you catch the fish at it can range from zero (basically topwater) and like 1000 pounds so that grouper you caught, the organs would not compress but expand which is equally as bad for the fish. It's the reason you hear of fish's swim bladders exploding, there is no compression from the deep water to compress the swim bladder and it explodes. That's usually why fish die, but hey I could be completely wrong but the 14 pounds of air pressure thing is just what I learned in science. Love your content Lawson, just giving my two cents lol

Pompano season is pretty much here. Buy some pompano rigs at pretty much any bait shop and put sand fleas on the hooks. Even if you use shrimp or something you have a good chance. Other than that some florescent bucktail jigs work pretty well for lots of things around the beach. Look for deeper troughs and be persistent and you will catch SOMETHING for sure.

@jroyero
7 жыл бұрын
I have a question. I see Lawson sometimes throwing fish like Jack Crevalles into the water head first and Snook he gently releases them? Why the difference?
@LawsonLindseyFishing
7 жыл бұрын
+jroyero jack don't swim in place they are always moving so if you only have them out for a short amount of time the most effective way to release them is to drop them head first because it essentially gives them a boost start. With snook they are like bass. They just sit still so I like to let them chill and catch their breathe. If I fight a jack for a long time though I'll hold is head into the current and wait for him to kick off.

Nice catch man!!! Loved hearing tour rant out veiws on fishing are exactly the same it feels sooo much better releasing a beautiful fiah than killing it for a meal... i allways say everyone remembers catching the fish but no one remembers eating them !!! Your so accurate and right in your rant i hate seeing people mishandle fish its sickening here up north people will throw a beautiful northern pike on the ground while it rolls around then theyll leave it out of the water forever its like come on man if your not gonna treat with the fish with respect then you shouldnt be fishing at all#letemgosotheycangrow
