Pshewwww.....I miss my blue crabs. Had 2 crabpots that kept me in crabs since I was 8. Grew up in the blue crab capital of the world. Ended up TN for the last 30 yrs, no blue crabs around here. Can cook up a mess of em though, crabcakes, he crab soup, she crab soup, crab imperial, and of course MD steamed crabs, just to name a few of my favs. Parents and uncle all had seafood restaurants that ended up pretty famous and in food magazines. They have the same rules for the tag and permit for catfish traps here in TN. We used to use flounder guts and heads, catch crabs, crush a crab up throw in the minnow trap and use them to catch flounder. Was a great cycle. We drop the crab pot ain't the afternoon and go back to check the next day. They feed mostly at ebb tide and kind of nocturnal. Never clean them before hand. There are size limits on them, too.

Not the way you cooked them, by removing the shell you removed all the flavors from the crab meat try it the Md way and WOW what a difference it makes when you steam them with the shell on, just my 2 cents

You fellas do what you do!!! Old Bay is simply a yankees way of trying to tell folks in the South how to season food... Everglades is great stuff, and I think the wine might be good too. I have been up north where they cook them with all the innards and it is not the best thing to have to dig through just to get to the parts that you want to eat. Way to go and keep it up!

If you cleaned them like you did, here in Maryland they would run you out of the state, i guess you haven't been here in Md and had our steamed blue crabs and learned how to steam WHOLE crabs right with beer and a little vinegar and old bay seasoning, your missing something fantastic

Man that's good stuff! Merica! Went to Savannah and Tybee Island this past weekend. Talk about 95° Florida heat! I know it was Ga, but that heat and humidity so high you could wear it! I always used chicken in my crab traps. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

I didn't realize there were blue crabs down here like we have in Southern Md. Well, I got my dad's Cuban Yo-yos that will move down with us when, with your help, we find our house down in Navy Point area 😉- but my favorite crabs will always be the big clawed Stone Crabs dipped in butter.

Man when I lived in Mt Pleasant SC right in my neighborhood there was a saltwater creek that led out to the bay and we would go down to the dock and catch blue crabs with a string and chicken neck and a crab net. It was nothing to get 10-15 big blues in an hour or so and would have backyard crab boils all the time. It's great fun and even better eating!!!! Get a keg of beer have 15 or so neighbors over and turn it into a block party!!! I miss those days and you should be doing all the time as close as you are to the water😎👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

A bit of advice from someone who has caught blue crabs in Maryland for like 15 years now. Though some people like them "cleaned" and then cooked, you don't do that shit, that's a disgrace to crabs. And besides, when you clean them you're throwing away all the good stuff inside like the "fat" and the mustard. You gotta put them bitches in a steamer and use some real crab seasoning (not old bay) with some sweet corn and some red skin potatoes all coated in the crab seasoning. The crab seasoning we've always used was J.O. #2, it's the stuff that you'll see restaurants using. It has more of a bite to it and has larger crystals of salt and has much more flavor I think than old bay, even though old bay is good.

Awesome....So good! I went to South Carolina years ago and we bought some small net traps and bought raw chicken. You tie the chicken in the middle of the net, has a string on it, dropped it off the pier, wait about 5 minutes, then pull it up real quick and you'd have about 4 crabs about that size.....super fun and fast to Get Er Done!!

You don’t seem to have a size limit? Here in south Australia we call them blue swimmers, but the shell on the back of the crab must be at least 150 mm across that’s about 6 inches at the very minimum, once cooked ours turn orange, how about yours? Oh and we are not allowed to take females for future stocks.
