Charlie - really like your videos, always fun and enjoyable to watch. As a trans woman I can definitely recommend yoga. You mentioned in your video Charlie how important running was during your transition, well for me it was yoga. Not only did it improve massively my flexibility it helped clear my mind everyday for an hour from all the other issues I had going on in my head. I have also found the yoga community to be very accepting. I started my yoga before I started to transition. When I started my transition and asked if I could move to the female changing room the yoga studio just said OK. There were no reluctance, no obstacles, just OK. I was also accepted immediately by the women there again no issues at all. 👍😃

+Joanne Webb Thank you Joanne, I really want to try and start yoga this summer so I'm going to make the time for it once my race season is underway. Doing the sessions in Feb made me realise how much flexibility I've lost so I've got to do something about it! XO

Training reduces depression, gives a sense of accomplishment, and allows one to make new friends. It obviously makes one more attractive, which makes life better in many ways. Only thing regret I have is I cannot do any upper body exercise since it makes me dysphoric. I do hike and ice skate a lot (7 times a weeks) and do squats, lunges and core.

So much love for this video. I use running to help clear my mind and of course stay reasonably fit and have recently done a number of classes including Yoga to try and tone the areas I feel will benefit my transition. Wishing you tones of luck fr your racing season also I hope everything comes together for you . x

Nice to hear about other trans people taking up some form of sport or exercise during transition. I started Bikram Yoga just as I was beginning my transition, then took up Adult Gymnastics and I now usually do both twice a week. Prior to that, when I was living as a male, I was overweight and unhealthy. I had tried to get in shape before, but back then I had no real goal because no matter what I did, I didn't think I'd ever be truly happy with my body. It was only after accepting myself that I knew what I wanted and so that made me work all that much harder because I knew that I could get there as long as I didn't give up. Gymnastics was always something that I wanted to try and I'm loving that, and while it is an uphill battle for someone with no previous experience starting out at 32 years old, I've been making progress, having a lot of fun and have found the whole experience to be very rewarding. Gymnastics class was also the first place I went where no-one there had ever met me before I'd began my transition, only 1 of the coaches knew because I'd spoken to him online about it before I started. I'm sure they all know, I don't "pass" that well, but there has never been an issue and nothing has ever been said which has been great.

Good luck to fox on the run. I did a couple of triathlons and they were always rewarding on different levels. I still have to wait for the physical transition.

It may just be me, but I listen through headphones and I would really appreciate it if you would turn down the background music a notch or two. I actually prefer no background music, but I understand it is part of the idiom of you tube videos, so just a little lower to put it into the background and clear up the foreground for your voices would be a big improvement from my point of view. Thanks.

+Michael Lauer I'd like to get some proper sound recording equipment but I currently just use the iPhone as it is, so it means I have to turn the sound up in the edit. I like having background music but I think with clearer sound recording in the first instance it will sound better :-)

Have you considered having varius LBGTQ groups to sponsor your racing, might be a great way to get positive coverage out there and even 15 or 20 pounds from a few groups would be worth the decal on the car.

[Please delete this comment... it was like Dan Aykroyd with his Marshmallow Man at the end of Ghostbusters - the thought just popped in there and wouldn't leave...] Hmm? - I imagine water skiing on dolphins would actually be good for building up the lower body and core... plus - because dolphins are self-propelled - you don't have the problem where by in normal water skiing you have to hold onto the tow rope, which requires a lot of upper body strength [...sigh... I actually pressed 'post']
