1) I feel a bit bad that I know you primarily as the Official Interviewer of the Avengers even though clearly your CV is far more extensive. Sorry! Huge Marvel fan. 2) Can you get anybody from Sandman?! I've seen your Neil Gaiman interview, which is stellar by the way, and not just because Neil Gaiman interviews tend to be stellar by default; you are really a thoughtful interviewer. But I'm still rewatching Sandman two months later, and I may also have exhausted all of the cast interviews in the known universe. Literally anybody. 2a) Actually, any chance you can get Ferdinand Kingsley? There are unacceptably few interviews with him, and I think at least 96% of the fandom would agree that we need to talk about Hob all day. 2c) But also literally anybody. 3) Just for the record, you having a pillow fight with Tom Hiddleston and your Falcon-and-the-Winter-Soldier-Talk-About-Butts interview are still two of my favorite things on the internet.

Cate Blanchett in Tar is top tier in acting. If you want to see perfection do not miss Tar, it’s truly a study in acting. Years ago a young actor asked Spencer Tracy for a tip on good acting. Mr Tracy replied “don’t let them catch you at it”. You’ll never catch Ms Blanchett at it. 😊

Cate is absolutely one of the most interesting people to listen to. A talented actress, yes, but so intelligent and insightful about a range of things. Thanks for this great interview. You had great questions but I also love how natural this whole conversation was. I always appreciate when Cate has the opportunity to go a bit more in depth with her thoughts on Tár, but this covered that and much more! And still I wish it didn't have to end!

Thanks for this! Just subscribed. I just loved this. Cate is quite remarkable as an actor. She went to to a traditional drama school in Sydney but she's always tapped into "alternative" theatre and artists such as Pina Bausch, & is unpretentious in her broad ranging view of all the arts. Even her "Mahabarata" comment about the red carpet at the beginning made me laugh, as there was a major 8 hour production of The Mahabarata in Australia that she would have seen. Thank you for your intelligent questions and thank you Cate for your generosity. As for Frank Thring. It's impossible to explain this strange peacock of a man who is actually in a few Hollywood historical blockbusters in the 1950's. As a young child Frank Thring was truly burlesque in a very conservative Australia.

An insightful and generous interview. And TAR is one of the great films of all time. But, oh dear, such a poor choice of camera placement for this extended conversation. The camera should have been positioned to favour Ms Blanchett, further to the left, so we see her more in full face rather than her side profile. Continuously her side profile. Rather than at present when Josh is slightly more full on to the camera. A single camera set-up needs careful consideration, especially if you have to cut to zoomed shots for closer shots of Ms Blanchett. She deserves star treatment.

Gospel Mk 4:21-25 Jesus said to his disciples, “Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light. Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear.” He also told them, “Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you. To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.”

Unlikely, Maria: she's not American. Australians have more in common with the British stage actors and they just grow old and do older women parts Think Dench Maggie Smith Elaine Atkins Joan Plowright they do older skin hair and bodies unlike Julia Roberts and Jane Fonda. You do get some Americans who age graciously now eg Lily Tomlin Frances Mac Dormand .
