3:39 Great video! The Dopamine Transporter is important with Parkinson’s Disease, as that is the focus of the DAT scan that uses essentially an MRI with contrast to see if the absorption of dopamine is normal or impaired. If impaired it can be assumed that the dopaminergic system is not working in some way. It’s not 100% certain to be PD, but it will certainly be a form of Parkinsonism.

Interesting! Is this mutually exclusive as another possible etiology for PD versus neurodegeneration of the substantia nigra or is there a connection between the two? Would an impaired DAT not increase the dopaminergic effect? Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video - as always, sparking my curiosity. I actually have very cheap access to this test (24hr collection) and have put it off out of pure laziness. Maybe I'll get it done just for the sake of data.
