I live very close to Allatoona. I usually fish at night because of all the boats. I'm not a cat fisherman, but I did catch a 30lb flathead around Galt's Ferry landing a few years ago. I was night fishing for Crappie in a small cove right next to the river channel. Just for fun I threw out a live bluegill into the channel. That flathead gave me the fight of my life. I didn't have a big enough net. He was half in the net and half out, but I got him in the boat.

I feel your pain Dave. I’m local to that lake. I use a lot of what I’ve learned from you out there. Been cat fishing there for years. Great to see you down here. Got a 60 lb blue off the galts ferry ramp last year. It’s a tough lake to fish. By the way chicken is king out there lol. Keep up the great content!!!!!

I fish lake Allatoona and the Etowah river exclusively. The only way I have been able to catch a lot of catfish there is because of trotlines and limb lines. Believe it or not, I caught a 46lb flathead in Allatoona, boat ramp off bells ferry probably 5 years ago now at 1:30 p.m. It’s a very slow lake to fish with rod and reel but it does hold a lot of catfish. I catch more flatheads than blues and more channels than anything. I’ll be making a couple videos next week there with the trots. This time of year I set 50 hooks with minnows and shad with an overnight soak usually catch 20 or so.. I know trots aren’t the same as rod and reel but it is the most effective way to fish the Dead Sea. Great video, nice to see you having difficulty catching them too, and it’s not just me 😂. Keep up the good work!

Next to the last time I saw Altoona Lake it was during an El Nino drought. The lake was 20 feet below the end of the ramps. By the time I next saw it about 5 years later the level was almost up to the end of the ramps, but not to worry, the Corps timetable was just right for a major draw down. Let's see the rules are EVERY 10 years, nothing said about droughts killing the economy in the area and maybe bumping the draw down a couple of years. Twits.
