Yeah I don't wanna be "that guy" but I have fished all my life and I Always cut the head off or smack it with a limb. I guess it's not really that big of a deal but it makes me feel better to know I'm not torturing the animal any more than I have to, to eat.

The pond is around an acre. The only "stocking" we do is if we catch a bunch of little catfish somewhere else we put them in there. We also do that with big bluegill and bass.

@D0cTerG0nZ0 That's not a dumb question at all. On the first catfish, Chase was using a size 6 bait holder hook that broke when he was removing it from the fish. He then tied on a 3/0 circle hook that he caught the 2nd one on.

I have a problem. I just moved and now I have around an acre pond in my backyard. I catch 3 or 4, 15 to 20 pound channel cats a day. But, everyone is scared to eat them? The pond used to be a cow pound 15 years ago. It is feed from an underground spring they eat only what's in the pond. Minnows, algae frogs natural things. But do you think these monsters are ok to eat. There has been a few mowers and a 4 wheeler been thrown in it. But, we have cleaned it out a few years back. Please help.

I did google that just now, very interesting topic. just one thought that popped into my mind, if fish really can't feel pain, does it mean there's nothing wrong with the way people collect shark fins? I mean cutting the fins off and chuck the fish back to the sea. I hope there's a way we can determine whether animals can feel pain

actually a tiger and other predator animals go for the throat. its probably the fastest way to get the kill. they usually don't just start tearing it apart. due to the fact it doesn't want it getting away. but they still know a fast way to kill the animal.
