The whole premise of Marilyn Manson is to shock you... which is why it's called 'shock rock'... Whether it's visually or lyrically, Marilyn Manson does his job quite well... His best work was from 1994 until 2004. Subsequent albums were not quite as groundbreaking... He changed his image quite a few times in his career. Some of Marilyn Manson's less controversial videos - 'Rock is dead' ... 'mobscene' ... In the 70's, we got Alice Cooper who horrified audiences w/ his visual antics... but everything he did onstage came from theater... Broadway... In reality, Alice Cooper is a really nice guy, a devout Christian... son of a Christian minister and married to the daughter of a Christian minister. His onstage personality was culminated from emulating cartoon and movie villains... Alice Cooper is 76 yrs old and still performing today. Blackie Lawless from the 80's band W.A.S.P. also took on a visual role to evoke horror and outrage w/ onstage antics... Slipknot also embraced rather violent and shocking imagery in their music videos ("The Devil in I" ... 'Left behind' ... 'Psychosocial'...) And then, there is Rob Zombie, former frontman of the band White Zombie... His music & visuals are not quite shocking but very campy style of Halloween & dark fantasy imagery... He also became a successful movie director, making horror movies like 'House of 1000 Corpses'... I think u may enjoy his music videos - "Dragula" ... 'Never gonna stop' ... 'Superbeast'... 'Foxy foxy'...

Great reaction Mia! That is what music does. It evokes different human emotions. In this case Marilyn's cover, conveys those dark feelings and it does it effectively, along with the images. It has been always his intention to shock people. If you can not handle these type of imagery, just listen to the music, which is good.

He's actually very educated, psychology university degree by memory. Some of his OG songs are actually to "push the "hidden" reality of some topic to the extreme", so the casual viewer can have a glimpse of what is "hidden". But I do agree that he's disturbing the 1st few times, now everyone have their limits and tolerances. Remember that what you saw is JUST images, it's YOU that give them power over you (or not).

@@MiaintheMoment By memory, for example the song "Beautiful peoples" is to show the extreme of the "plastic surgery" and the cult of "beauty" at ANY cost. Dope show is to show how fame on TV / Internet is mostly FAKE and can disappear in a instant. Read the lyric first then watch the videos, there's a correlation that 1 is enforced by the other. Like I've said earlier, based on your reaction of your 1st vid of Manson, Pictures do NOT have power over you. You give THEM power or not.

IMO, Marylin Manson was always trying to shock.. like making the most disturbing video that is allowed to be shown on TV. Aside from that, and whatever goal he had, he did push the limit of what could be done in media whether he wanted it or not, i think. This is more of a artistic painting than a good song to me. (i also prefer the original) But his cover still had huge effect on everyone and how he could twist the lyrics into something sinister, its almost like like he is calling out abusers (and how the victims change with abuse) and other awful people out there. At least that's how I interpret it. Again, like metal in general, this work is (IMO) about mental health.

Next time you're in one of your instense workouts, put on some Slipknot or Korn, on your headphones, maybe even when you're running. It's been scientifically proven the frequencies in faster pace music like metal, give the body a natural adrenaline rush, which is how moshpits got started. Marilyn Mason is a strange cookie. I love his music, but I feel you on the aesthetic. It just never sat right with me, it seemed off in a way, a bit too far in a way that I could never really pin down. However I have incredible respect for Marilyn Manson. He was blamed for a lot of things, including drugs, violence, and was directly blamed for the columbine incident. However he handled all that negative press with a level of maturity, tact, and open mindedness that you don't even see from from the figures you're supposed to be able to rely on that for and it all came from that weird ass looking face. Even if you don't react to it, you should definitely look up the video "Marilyn Manson outclassed interviewers." I guarantee if you watch some of this interviews, and listen to what he actually has to say about controversial topics you will respect him at least a little, likely more.

@@MiaintheMomentYes, please, react to "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails, the official "Director's Cut" video on their youtube channel. Trent Reznor, the Nine Inch Nails singer/composer/producer was kind of Marilyn Manson's godfather in the music industry back in the 90s when they were best friends, he signed Manson for his record label and produced his albums, including this cover of "Sweet Dreams" and everything on his/their best album "Antichrist Superstar", which also included his/their biggest hit "The Beautiful People", you should react to that one too imo. The "Closer" video is so good that it was made part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Song was a big hit in the 90s and maybe you already heard it somewhere like in a movie or the radio, idk. It has some very explicit lyrics and the video has some shocking images inspired by painters like Francis Bacon and a few others. Song is part of a bigger story in a great Nine Inch Nails album called "The Downward Spiral", about a guy dealing with depression, addiction, lack of faith, etc. I tell you all of this because lyrics have a deeper meaning than what you'll probably think the first time you listen to it, lol. The album also has some other great songs like "Hurt", which was famously covered by Johnny Cash a few years later, but "Closer" was it's biggest hit. Song also sounds very different to this Manson cover of Sweet Dreams, "Closer" is way more electronic and funky, very inspired by 80s Prince, both musically and lyrically, but darker and mixed with more experimental stuff that was made with electronic and rock music during those times in the (almost) mid 90s. Saludos desde España y suerte con el canal. 😁👍

Your initial reaction so good! 😅 That's Marilyn for ya, I do have to say, second album is better, after that, the "Mechanical Animals" album is the best, try "Rock is dead", different kinda weird look on that one, you need happy thoughts or eye bleach after watching his vids 🤣I love his music, not some of the lyrics and just not the vids, like that your spanish comes out spontaneously "que oso!" this one, yes so disturbing!

Not a huge fan of his. I don't necessarily dislike it either but I went to one of his concerts and he put on a good show sounded just like his recording. During one intro to a song I didn't know still don't lol he pulled out a Bible and started ripping pages out of it then he threw the Bible in the crowd and in came straight at me so I caught it like a punt returner do lol. I let some people take some pages out of it and they were so hyped. I brought it home but I must have lost it or my dad might have threw it away lol. I would consider myself a Christian so it was kinda freaky but what the hell. Some people get guitar picks some get drum sticks but I got Marylin Mansons Bible 😅😅

I like the music…it’s great with subs in the car but you’re not crazy. The videos are always a bit disturbing.
