Dr. Thomas F. Freeman was a professor and debate coach at Texas Southern University in Houston for nearly 60 years, teaching and influencing prominent Black leaders like Congresswoman Barbara Jordan and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was also a minister at Mt. Horem Baptist Church, delivering sermons every Sunday for more than 65 years. This 1973 home movie captures Freeman attending a Catholic parade in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
