A bit more mortar in the wall, thanks be to God. May I recommend, Ascension Press, with Father Mike Schmitz, Catechism in a year and Bible in year. The App and contents are completely no charge. I am crash learning by condensing two or three days into one. It is absolutely brilliant and a true gift for us Sheep. I have been an hibernating Catholic all my adult life and am now in the Autumn of life, but I have a stirring inside of me to prepare myself by learning more about my faith and returning back to the Sacraments and prayer and putting off the old man. Catholic Unscripted is helping to fan the flames. It is very tough for me to shake off the Old Man, but, God has and is being so merciful to me and without his Church, I know I would be lost for eternity. The desire to Evangelise and be used by God is growing stronger by each passing day and this is The Holy Spirit preparing me, I am certain. I encourage those of my Catholic brothers and sisters, who are struggling for various reasons, not to give up. Ask God even when the darkness seems so dense that you don't even feel like asking. If you are too exhausted to use words, or kneel or stand, just cast your mind on Jesus. I have sat in front of The Blessed Sacrament and have felt emotionally stone cold. Prayer feels the same, yet something I am unable to explain is happening to me. I pray for all my Catholic Brethren, please pray for me. John

Guess what, the beauty and freedom mentioned resides in our Holy and only church. This is placed at the feet of the faithful in the TLM. Definitely NOT in the NO. Being converted in 2003, I feel cheated, unserved, and deceived by my NO, social justice, liberal parish I first attended. I just happened to stumble across a SSPX Mass, and I have never returned to the NO. I now attend only a local diocesan TLM. I’m not bitter, I feel so sad for our fellow Catholics who seem to be dumbed down and robbed of faith. I feel the best destruction of the NEW MAGISTERIUM, the most efficient weapon is the TLM. It’s power to replace or install the faith in our people , strengthen the supernatural presence, is unequalled. I call the TLM the economy of faith when it comes to defeating the heresy of the NEW MAGISTERIUM. God Bless and please continue on. I have no bitterness toward the NO, I do hope to see it retired and shut down in due time.

@@henrytimpson8880 I have a few questions, no, I’ll just get to the point. At the world youth day this year, hundreds of clergy milled around as the laity gave out the host. Why? The history of this practice displays division, disobedience, and even violence by our western bishops, and priests. Try looking it up. Lay ministers were never condoned by Rome. I can’t see myself going to a job interview without my best suit on. Know what I mean? Every Mass, every single one, how much greater is my recognition my King of kings is presenting Himself at the unbloody sacrifice? And yes, I always wear my best suit even when it’s 97 degrees F outside. I’m always on my knees at the altar rail. Head bowed. Christ is there before me. I humble myself, making my 74 inch body as small as possible in His presence. Awe, humility, subservience, obedience. These are just a few things that keep me from hedonism, sin, apathy. When I was at the NO, I felt like I was in line to get on the subway to go to the beach. At the TLM, I sense that I’m in a vey holy place going to meet my Lord. King of kings. I am part of the Kingship of my Lord, I am one of His subjects. Not a tourist. I suggest and promote you attend the TLM for two months exclusively. There you may get a chance to actually serve your Lord as your grandfather did. The NO is a poor representation of the sacrifice on Calvary. No wonder so many Catholics look at the body and blood the same as protestants. Just a wafer of unleavened bread and wine. It will be nice when it’s current form is removed.

Katherine's question is also mine. "What happens when people do not believe in sin?". My answer (from an Irish perspective) would go like this. The Primary schools and some secondary schools are Catholic. Under the patronage of the Catholic bishops. The ethos is meant to be Catholic, not secular. If the teachers/parents do not recognise sin, surely it's the bishop's duty to instruct the flock in an effort to protect our children. Perhaps the bishops don't believe in sin, either? When the "Stay Safe " programme was introduced to schools in the mid 90s, a group of parents pleaded with our bishops to discourage the teaching of a programme which told children "my body belongs to nobody but me" which was diametrically opposed to "my body is a Temple of the Holy Ghost". We were ignored. Fast forward 25 years and we find the Minister of Education and the muzzled bishops pushing filth, degeneracy and lies on our innocent children/grand children. I am LIVID!

As you say, the Sacred Scriptures are very clear “They will call his name Jesus, because he will save the people from their sins.” If the Church no longer believes in original sin, heaven and hell, then it has no purpose. If the actors remain on the stage, they do so only for one purpose - to steal the scenery! Yet there are Bishops (and, I think, even a Cardinal) who have said that there is no hell, or if there is, no one will actually go to it. Then, in the original translation of the Mass into English, this Universalist heresy was specifically incorporated into the words of consecration themselves “this is my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant, shed for you and for all men for the forgiveness of sins”. For about forty years, no one in the English hierarchy noticed, or if they did notice, they did not care. Eventually, Pope Benedict did intervene and restore the wording to that of the Sacred Scriptures. It is interesting to note that, for all of its faults and failings, during these years when the English Catholic Church was setting out the Universalist heresy in the Liturgy, the Church of England continued faithful to the wording of Sacred Scripture. This shows how easily the Church can fall into error. What were the Bishops doing during this period? They were busy dishing out Church funds to the parents of victims of sexual abuse, to buy their silence.

Thank you all! Thanks Gavin for the reminder that the pivot is the Holiness of God. Feelings are subjective, highly elastic - thank you Katherine for making the necessary distinction with justice. Reason is what must be restored to us so that we can, with heavenly mindedness, contribute to earthly good. Thank you Mark, for your wonderful input on ideology and the lack of humility and obfuscation, how we must be examples "in the midst of the chaos... more people are hungry." Niceness sure isn't hope. The niceness is nauseating and, amongst increasing numbers of professing Christians, is growing. There are wolves among the sheep - teachers who are afraid, as well as teachers who are actually reprobate. (Perhaps it's a foreshadowing of Matt.25- the sheep and the goats)Yet the Gospel of Grace has always overcome (John I ). The mess will be a destructive but temporary "project" . Sin must be boldly spoken of no matter what : may the Holy Spirit powerfully anoint faithful testimony and sound teaching. The Bible - The" Holy" Bible - has all that is needed for life and godliness. I'm actually grateful for GAFCON because I'm a Presbyterian and would be stuck like a polar bear on a melting icefloe otherwise. Schisms are regrettable but this particular split derives from the desire to obey the Lord unhindered. Sola Scriptura I embrace but along with the four other solas - fide, gratiae etc. Each sola is needed and in sum. I remain unconvinced by the sacramental system understood as a ladder because of the many lapsed who have a false assurance. But I have the greatest respect for the many Catholic faithful in whom the Spirit moves. I taught several years in Catholic schools - lay evangelism is crucial - 'How lovely on the mountain are the feet of those who bring good news' (Is. 52:7) Blessings to you. I thank God for each of you.

I only have one key that explains Pope Francis' actions, and that is that we're at the end of time. It's the only key I can find. At the end of time would one rather have the Church preach correct morality to which no one is listening? Or would you rather the Church say "I'm not concerned with what you believe, the Church still loves you and prays for you."? Perhaps the latter. St. Malachy's prophecy suggests that Pope Francis is the first pope who could be the last pope.

Raising questions about traditional teachings of the Church by the authorities of shifts the mind set of the laity. The issue of Contraception was questioned and Pope Paul VI finally said no. However speculation lead to in practice the vast majority of Catholics use contraception even if the teaching hasn’t changed. People have accept in practice fornication, couples living and having sex with each other and most Catholics just accept it as normal even though the teaching on fornication hasn’t changed. This is the real danger.

Moment 43: The acts of the magisterium installed by Pope Bergoglio will therefore have to be undone by a next more orhodox Pope. He will only be capable of this if it can be established that the election of pope Bergoglio was plotted in advance -making it thereby ilegitimate- by some theologico-political cabal as the Skt Gallen group is claimed to be, falling all the members thereof under the new chastisements ex late sentenciae for such crimes as proclamated in the new canonical laws to that effect -that is, prearranged conclaves- by his Holiness J-P II. If John-Paul II foresaw the need of providing this new canonical measures to protect the Church AFTER him it must have been that he saw the probability of what was coming along already then. The fact alone that J-P II made canonical law with this in mind is astounding proof in itself of what was already under way, or real, if not fully. Undoing partially the acts of a past papacy is arbitrary, the whole of a to be chastised magisterium will have to go on the block. It would be, will be a massive, massive scandal and source of much new bewilderment and bitter resentment and division in and outside the Church. Divisiness as the result of the to be expected behavior caracteristic of a sociopath was, it seems, what - to some who claim to know, having read the now dissapeared report- Hans-Peter Kolvenbach, the then General of the Society of Jesus, was warning J-P II about, as he was complying with the plea of the Holy See to him to write a report on a fellow subordinate jesuit priest in Argentina, Jorge Bergoglio, whom a local Bishop over there wanted to elevate to the rank of auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires. His Holiness was a mighty vigilant Peter, and God bless him a hundredtfold in Heaven for that, but it seemed he did not follow the high advice not to "promote" that fellow jesuit, and for all his greatness and inmense virtues, neither did he follow the advice of Joseph Ratzinger, as prefect of the CDF, to intervene against one other "servant" of the Church in Mexico, named Marcial Maciel. We all know now, partially still only, what these two grave mistaken acts of policy of a very great pontif have led to, Sinead O'connor's scandalous act in the face of the world back then, being only one consequence of it, but...this act also is being comemorated today by the LGBT+ front now....Acts have inmeasurable consequences, that is why we need to promise and why we need to forgive, as the teaching of Hannah Arendt reminded the Church of in her "The Human condition". And acts of a Pontiff, so highly placed in the chain of being, have highly inmeasurable consequences...

Pope Francis wishes to be a “reforming Pope”. It is worth looking at how previous “reforming Popes” approached the need for reform. For example, at the time when the Pope was the sovereign ruler of about one-third of the Italian Peninsula, the main problem facing the Papacy was the corruption and inefficiency in the civil administration of the States of the Church. This largely arose because most positions in the civil administration were occupied by the clergy. Reforming Popes took the radical step of removing the clergy from most positions in the civil administration and replaced them with competent and, largely, honest, lay officials. The clergy were directed to concentrate on the preaching of the Gospel and the saving of souls. A similar approach would now be worthy of consideration. The Papacy, currently, directly controls most of the temporal property of the Church. The local Pastor is vested with all legal authority in respect of the assets of his Parish and he is responsible to his Ordinary, who is responsible to Rome. As a result, the Papacy controls vast sums of money and very valuable real estate. All of this is under the control of the Pope and the Bishops. Now, consider a major reform. All of the temporal assets of the Church would be vested in lay Trustees who would be subject to very strict limitations as to the application of the funds and property under their control. So, for example, if the parents of a child approach the Bishop and complain that a Priest has molested their child, the Bishop would have no funds under his direct control. He would be unable to “buy the silence” of the parents by way of a large payment out of funds under his control. The lay Trustees would have no power under the trusts on which they held Church assets to make such a payment. So, the Bishop would have no alternative but to advise the parents to go to the Police and he would then have no choice but to remove the Priest from certain duties. The Bishop and clergy of the Diocese would be responsible only for the spiritual administration of the assets of the Diocese. After all, most of the funds and property held by a Diocese are derived from the contributions of the laity. There is no reason why holy, honest, qualified members of the laity should not be entrusted with the administration of assets which belong, in justice, to the laity, not to the Bishops or the Pope. This is the sort of major reform which the Pope should be considering. Bringing the laity into the forthcoming Synod as full voting members cannot be justified. Spiritual matters are the exclusive preserve of the Bishops, as successors to the Apostles. The laity should be involved in the administration of the temporal goods of the Church. This strict separation would make the clergy entirely dependent upon the laity for their financial support. That, I consider, would be a move in the right direction.

dr. Ashenden, at moment 10 min. it all comes back or down to Descartes...So in this rather "global" assertion are we not back forcefully also to Maritain's -I admit- youthful claim that modernity is as a whole like a seond "original" sinfall? If it is and if Descartes is the culprit again (as the first modern too proud human) do we not then have to go the whole way of the intellectual kinda guiltridden skyfall of which the compexly reflexive path of John Milbank and his school reminds us of, much from on high, and start rethinking the medieval destinal fall into nominalism and so forth on the seinsgeschichtliche pathway? I think the tracing of wokism is not that interesting nor that necessary, it's just simply the concoction the emasculated (very short) intellectual traditions of the left now, and for now, stake their "faith" on, but this extremist time to get rid of all injustice and not just the one lingering on between the two social classes of oppresors and oppressed that unfortunately seem to be getting on better than they should at upholding the same progressive values? The extreme left will always rehash it's proper scrap in one way or an other, so why give it such a long line of intellectual nobility through a difficult meganarrative once more? Carrying around such an enormously inflated self-consciousness is way too much penance on our part to somehow counterbalance the irredeamable need of the ever unrepentant left to keep going at it, whatever the cost, now the whole West that seems to need to be cancelled if finally justice is to be fully achieved...The devil is boring like hell, but the new left with its recent wokism mask is painstakingly so.

I still hold it and, without thereby wishing to open any further polemics I here permit myself to reference a podcast on KZitem by the JordanPeterson Channel: it is nr 367 of the man's collosal output, a dialogue with James A. Lindsay, author of "Cynical theories", who responding to Peterson's bewilderment that some people seem to him to be capable of intellectually separating marxism and postmodernism, actually pretends at the beginning of the podcast to have gone deep into the matter. He then expounds a metatheory on marxism, casting it as a genus that by way of apparent dialectical self-criticism of its previously dominating version morphes into a latter kind of leftist species, the then named cynical theories. I can side with this view to my satisfaction and still think we ought not to do the later Heidegger all over again to be able to situatate wokeism with some degree of critical satisfaction at a somewhat minor cost.. Upon this note, I will, with apology, foreclose any further discussion on the matter for now on this front. Wellwishes and greetings.

@@guygeorgesvoet4177 - I'm very familiar with James Lindsey, and have watched and read a great deal of his content. While I don't agree with all he says, he's absolutely correct to trace today's horrors back to the Frankfurt School and the postmodernists re-interpretation of Marxism. Basically, just take the old proletariat vs bourgeois, and replace it with white person vs anyone who isn't white, but leave the rest remains the same, including wealth redistribution to address grievances. I'm far more educated about this matter than Lindsey, and will say he leaves out a great deal that is of critical importance. But I don't have my own KZitem channel, and he does. Bully for him. But then I've long been a student of history, and the tracing of trends and ideas comes naturally to me. But one thing for sure, no matter the origins, wokeism is just a package of lies told to gain power for those who tell the lies. If you can at least understand that, it's really all you need to know. What lies are being spewed? "The biggest problem on earth is "racism"." "That the earth will burn up and incernate us all because we use oil as fuel." "That men can easily become woman, and vice-versa." "That one can have sex without any negative consequences what-so-ever, with whoever you please." "That God loves us all JUST THE WAY WE ARE, no repentance required." You don't even need to know what philosophy is to know a lie when you hear it. And the important thing at this hour, is to stop believing the lie. The second most important thing is, to start telling the truth. All the best.

John 14:6 John 8:31-32 Whose truth are we talking about ? There are those that follow 'the' truth and those that follow 'another' truth. Without adhering to 'the' truth, there is no 'common/shared' basis to existance... nor union. Without such union, there is no lamb of the good shepherd. Revelation 7:17 All I see is a tribal warfare between various versions/sects of what has become 'my' truth. Ironic then, that the catholic church should condemn protestant for schism, proclaiming their voice was the only genuine version of 'my' truth, yet both proclaim to be 'the' truth. Even more ironic then, that the catholics themselves, schismed from the Jews, who no doubt considered their version of 'my' truth authoritative. Truth requires evidence and facts. Evidence and facts end arguments. If you have no evidence and facts, you are not preaching 'the' truth, with a burning tongue that is a double edged sword, just as likely to burn the wielder as the adversary. There is no judge and 12 jurors like the 13 phases of the moon and lunar months. There is no bread and wine of the paschal lamb, at the center of the thone of God, at the lunar eclipse within the rainbow of the spring equinox, that is the solar cross. There is no oath sworn hand upon the bible. You are not following 'the' way, 'the' truth and 'the' life. You are following a personal interpretation of a book (singular or tribal makes little difference), written in the hand of fall(ible) humanity, all proclaiming to have a monopoly upon God. 'The' truth, wil indeed set you free.

40 minutes in there is too much opinion and criticism of Pope Francis. I think he is a most misunderstood Pope. People are forgetting he has the special guidance of the Holy Spirit…….EVEN IF THEY PERSONALLY CANNOT SEE WHERE THE CHURCH IS GOING. +

In the early Church (which was mainly to be found in the Middle East and was based in Constantinople) as you say, it was the Emperor, on behalf of the people, who took responsibility for right doctrine. If differences of opinion arose, then it was the Emperor who would call an Ecumenical Council. He would summon the Bishops and would pay for their travel and accommodation expenses. However, it was the Bishops, in Council, who would define any disputed matters of doctrine. Once they had done so, it was recognised that the Bishop of Rome, as successor to St Peter, who was entrusted with the duty of “confirming his brethren” who would formally confirm the dogmatic definitions agreed upon by the Council. So, definition of doctrine involved the laity, the civil government, the Bishops generally and the Bishop of Rome, in particular. It was a joint effort, intended to show the unity of the Church. All of that came to end, of course, with the Great Schism in 1054. After that the Eastern Church took the view that, since it was no longer possible for the Emperor to summon all of the Bishops of the entire Church, it was no longer possible to hold an ecumenical Council. Therefore, as I understand the position, in the Eastern Church, only the first seven Ecumenical Councils, held before 1054, are considered authentic and binding on the Church in matters of doctrine.
