I love Blacktip Shark. I usually fish Port Aransas, TX and do get at least one a day from the deep water. I usually cut down from the top going downwards cutting into steaks. I use butter with lemon juice and fresh dill and smoke using mesquite wood. Keep up the great work.

Enjoyed watching you catch sharks exactly where I used to shark fish in the mid-70s to early 80s. I caught many species including a 10' hammerhead, duskys, lemons, nurse, and maybe a few others. Sometimes fished from the old pier with well known local shark fisherman of that era, Elmo Horine. I don't know if anyone still remembers him. I've moved away but really loved that spot.

I catch sharks fairly often when surf fishing in Daytona. I never target them, always fishing for whiting and pompano, but they look super tasty! I'll have to keep the next legal one and try it! Went to PCB for the first time and caught 2 very tasty slot reds this February! These videos are great!

Ill be running 80 lbs braid and surf fishing from national seashore area. What are you using for steel leader? Single or multi strand, knots or crimps, and if knots which knots? Thanks so much for the content and all of the knowledge

Blacktip is great eating. I used to use Italian dressing and then charcoal grill it but my wife decided to buy McCormick Grill Mates marinade seasoning packets. They are better than Italian dressing for shark steaks. I suggest these flavors in order. Baja Citrus Mojito Lime Garlic Herb & Wine Zesty Herb Those are the best with any seafood. Really good with pompano. Also suggest reserving a little marinade to spoon over the fish after grilling.

Sharks were always of the first that we caught, and on overnight trips they would usually be on the grill the first night out. I was always of the understanding that they "urinated" by excreting it through their skin, so we always filleted them and skinned them immediately and put them on ice in salt water, to prevent that "ammonia" smell/flavor

It's been a long time since I had some shark. Looks great. Brant I know you do this so much more than me but instead of wrapping a rag around your finger is there a reason you don't use something like a "casting cannon"? I have one on both of my larger spinning set ups and work great with the heavier baits like you were casting. I can bomb it better and have more control than with using my finger and wrapping it. Just curious.

Brandt, I almost came out to where you were but fished the Pensacola Beach Pier instead yesterday. Sharks were everywhere. Didn't go 5 min without seeing at least 1 but many times you saw 3-5 at time. All black tips my guess though there was one giant who kept popping up just outside the outer sandbar. Spanish weren't running thick but catching quite a few and all of them very good size. Problem was the sharks. They were hitting everyone's gotcha lures or Rapala's. I got broke off and about 7 others did as well from sharks. BTW, they are catching some king's as well. About 1pm there was a run of blue fish. There were some tank blue fish caught, several pounds. Glad you finally conquered your quest! lol

You could swim out about 200 yards and start splashing around and then swim back toward your bait until you get a bite.
