From this video I will remember the gigantic clouds, grey, black or white announcing storm or calm weather ( I love clouds, for instance huge cumulus, also here in town...), a bird singing before the storm, the naughty buzzing mosquitos zzzzziiiiiizzziiiizzzzzzz, the nice deep green epicea-christmas-branch, the quiet amazingly flat lake after the storm, so peaceful, with the reflection of surrounding scenery (till end video)... And of course the obsessionate "song" of rain- or haildrops loudly hitting your tarp (a very util object !).... What not can be seen, only presumed : the delicious scent of grass, trees, leafs, wood, ground, water.... the scent of the totally refreshed nature after so many hours of pouring rain (in my opinion, however, unfortunately disturbed by the pipe-smoker....) Thank you Jarl for all the efforts of filming in those conditions 😆 💜 💚

I don't mind the rain or hail because I trust my gear. No, it's the lightning and really high winds that bother me when I camp. Especially the lightning!! That stuff has a mind of its own and goes wherever it wants to go whenever it feels the need. I've been toasted 4 times in my lifetime, twice in a 24 hour period, and none of them happened while camping, so I feel safe in that aspect. lol 47:55 to 48:17 Did you offer a swig to the Camera Operator?? lol BRAVO to your Tarp!! That thing took a beating from the wind and still managed to serve its purpose. Great video!! Such beautiful scenery! My kind of paradise!!

Thank you! You have been hit by lightning 4 times?
@neolithicnobody8184
Жыл бұрын
@@NorwegianXplorer Yes, sir. 4 times. The last 2 were the same day. I was struck between 10-11 in the morning and went to the hospital to be examined. I spent over 10 hours of testing, probing and prodding before being released. Upon arriving back home from the hospital, I was struck again as I exited the vehicle. My Wife and Daughter shoved me back into the vehicle and rushed me back to the hospital. The hospital was confused because they thought they had released me, not realizing I had been struck again. It was a very messed up day, to say the least. I smelled BACON everywhere I went for 2 whole days after that. lol I'm able to laugh about it all now, but at the time I remember being in a lot of pain and extremely HOT. I've always had a problem with generating a lot of static, so bad that I no longer shake hands with others. I prefer fist bumps these days because the jolt feels different on my knuckles than it does through my fingertips. I even fist bump doorknobs before opening doors now. My friends and family keep their distance from me for the fear of being the unlucky one of receiving even a discharge from shoulder to shoulder. The 6 Foot Rule of distance during the Pandemic was a cinch for me, as I had already been doing it for nearly a decade by then. 👍

@@NorwegianXplorer Yeah, my coworkers have a big laugh every time we have a power failure at work. Everything may go dark in the place, but they know where I am when I move around. They just watch for the flashes and listen for the sound of small firecrackers going off. lol I have 2 Brothers who are Electricians and they joke around when they get new Test Meters. They like to see how much voltage I'm producing to see if their new tools work. lol My family are Huggers when it comes to greeting people at family gatherings, except with ME. My greeting is usually a nod and a wave from across the room. lol We clearly want to avoid another disaster like we had back in 2010, when some family members experienced problems with their Pacemakers after giving me hugs at Christmastime. Hello my friend. A very simple and quick method for converting centigrade to Fahrenheit is to double the centigrade temperature subtract 10% and then add 32. You can easily do this in your head. It works for any temperature, no matter the scale. Example 25+25=50. -10%=5. 50-5=45. 45+32= 77

@NorwegianXplorer

Thanks, so many things yet so few things. I think the weather forecast is the number one tool. Knowing what might potentially happen weather vise and bring proper gear for that. So on this trip I knew I would be able to shelter quite comfortably from any major wind, since I would be below the treeline for most of the trip so I brought my tarp for the rain and just my lightweight tent. What happened up on the ridge there with the hail was just a thing out of the ordinary, but the tarp worked well for the occasion.

👋Hey there Norwegian Xplorer, Wow! Another top notch video to share here & I watched you guys enjoying nature with pure joy. The rain was merciless & relentless @ times & lasted a long while, but as always, you waited it out with patience & just got on with things. Also, as you rarely complain about the weather, it's so obvious to me, that you're a true outdoor professional! In reference to the mosquitoes, I would be eaten alive from head to foot & I mean literally!🤣 I always require insect repellent, but I have to use the natural ones, as I have very sensitive skin & airways. Finally & this one had me laughing out loud. My 4.5 year old niece is with me often when i watch your videos, she's wise beyond her years, so she's witnessed a pattern here & as the seasoned wee observer that she is, she asked me very matter of factly, "Aunty Anna, would you die if you couldn't watch "Nogen Eploer?" I then looked @ her with surprise ready to reply, but before I could, she then added, "You look like you would die because that's what you always have on tv, always! I want to watch Hilda!" And with that said, she looked @ me, then ran off to play. I've come to realise how selfish I am when it comes to Norwegian Xplorer! lol I will play Hilda for my niece from now on when she's with me, as there will surely be familial complaints coming my way soon! This reminded me too, that children are transparent, open & honest until they're taught not to be. They say it like it is & sometimes their wee comments are questionable.😅 Tusen takk for sharing your outdoor adventures with we viewers. Cheers & Peace✌

I really enjoyed this post. But the one thing that really surprised me is that with your battles with mosquitos, you don't have surplus military type head nets that protect your head, neck and face. As someone who lives in the American southeast in wet wooded swampy areas, I know all about that.

Oh, I do have a headnet with me, but using a thermacell I do not need the headnet. I had forgot to change the «amunition» in the thermacell the first night so I didnt work as well until I switched it. I go to lenghts to not put the headnet on:-)
