I use Superpaint every day ! It never splatters for me . I use a Purdy Colossus 3/4 cover on int. orange peel walls and 1" covers on ext. stucco . Ive been using Superpaint for over 10 years and never a problem. I did however have problems using Marathon or Whit dove covers with Superpaint when I first started using it .

I used SW SuperPaint exterior extra-white base in a beige colorant on my Florida stucco home and it had phenomenal coverage. It has a deep rich color and was thick on a roller. It covered minor cracks well. Two years, 98 degree rainy summers and two hurricanes it’s still looking good. There is no evidence of any north side mold. I tested a can each of Behr ultra exterior and the SW Super before the project and the SW just applied better. Florida is a torture test for paint but so far SW Super is holding up.

I've been using super paint for over 20 years. For the price point it has some of the best coverage in re-color. I for one can't stand cashmere because its cover on re-color sucks. It is a beautiful finish but you're not gonna one coat anything except same color. The observation for super paint in yellow is pretty much the same for most every you paint. I've used duration Emerald cashmere and I'm not that impressed with the coatings. And yes I've used everything from the cheap stuff from home depot to PPG, porter, bm, color wheel, fl paints and so on. And Super Paint is one of the best re-color paints bar none.

Super Paint is a fine paint. Excessive splatter comes from working a roller with too little paint on it Some guys try and "milk" every ounce of paint out of the roller sleeve, which results in them pressing hard and slinging paint as a result. Keep you roller cover (preferable 1/2" or at least 3/8" loaded and you will have minimal splatter. That being said...you will always have 'tiny' spots of "splatter", no matter which paint you're using, so be sure to use drop cloths and cover any surfaces that aren't getting painted.

I just finished a high end bathroom remodel using SuperPaint. Homeowner spent all kinds of money on everything else and then starting pinching pennies on paint. They insisted on buying the paint. Used flat on ceilings and walls which splattered like crazy. Used semi gloss on trims and doors which yielded horrible coverage. Would not use SuperPaint again on interior. Personally I think BM Ultra Spec 500 interior line is better than SuperPaint. Cheaper, better coverage, and easy to work with. The exterior SuperPaint is okay and I’m using it right now on a massive exterior project. Liking it so far on exterior. Not my first choice for exterior but again it’s a situation where the homeowner insisted.

Your thoughts are exactly how I feel about Super Paint XD. I used it on what ended up becoming my kid's bedroom a few years back and wasn't a fan of how it went on, definitely had splatter issues. Later went back to repaint the room once kiddo started drawing on the walls (and she outgrew her baby pink and wanted something different, now she has purple) and ended up giving SW another chance, this time with Emerald. All I can say is that with the Emerald you clearly get what you pay for! Way easier to apply, didn't get any noticeable splatter, and covered better too.

I think “Journey man John” got his bases wrong. SW Extra White base “covers” the best because the other bases for SuperPaint- deep base (they don’t have ultra deep for super yet) is semi clear allowing more tint to make darker colors, hence relying more on the “colorant” to cover the wall rather then the “base” of the paint. I’m a manager at store 2002 Florida. That’s why darker colors require lots of coats. So lots of colorant = terrible coverage

I had a couple of contractors give me estimates to paint the interior of our new home. Both suggested SW Super Paint. After watching Paint Life I decided to paint the home myself. This wasn't my first time painting a house, but it was my first time using SW Super Paint. I was dupped into thinking it was a very good paint because it was recommended by other contractors in the area. At $60 a gallon retail price, (we got it on sale for $35) I have to say this paint is awful to work with. After two coats you can still see the roller marks on the wall. Coverage is terrible and we kept going back to the store to buy more. Of course it was only on sale for the weekend so we had to pay full price for all the extra we needed. Its been about 60 days now and every time something lightly rubs against the wall the paint is coming off. Will not buy SW again. (FYI, Contractors can buy the paint for as little as $25 gallon because they push it hard and buy a lot of it. Meanwhile it's sold to unsuspecting home owners at full retail for $60. What a rip off. This paint is not very Super!

I gotta tell ya fellas, Iv kinda drifted away from SW all together. I have not been that impressed with any of their paints within the last year or so. To be honest, Behr has been impressing me for the first time ever. Atleast for interior. I read Behr has put a lot more work into their paints recently. I know Behr has never been popular among pro painters, and trust me I used to rip Behr every time it was brought up in conversation. However Iv used it couple times this year and it has impressed the shit outta me. SW seems to have gotten lazy. Benjamin Moore regal select is a nice paint for the price that I get from my local paint store. Iv also made a point to use the local guy in my town. He carries Picasso and Corona brushes too. My dad has been in business since 1974 and he always uses Benjamin Moore paints. He uses the Regal Select line for the walls and ceilings and the oil based Satin Impervo for woodwork (trim, baseboards, doors, etc). That being said, he always maintained that paints like Sherwin Williams, Pittsburgh, and Prat & Lambert are all very good paints and he isn't against using them, its just that he loves Benjamin Moore, that's the paint he swears by. They all may cost more than your box store paints but at the end of the day a high quality paint, no matter the company, will always go further than the cheap stuff. Fine Paints of Europe is another great line of paint, especially for woodwork and trim but the prices is out of this world.

Stevie M Yea but some of their stuff is just ridiculous.. their contractor watered down piss paint goes for $30-35 range and needs 3 coats to fully cover. I use their oil bases, the satin impervo sprays the best.. for acrylic water-bases Behr Marquee got that shit on lock.

Marak Lia ultra spec 500 or super spec should cover easily in 2 coats. It does for me. Obviously regal select is even better

Marek, you can say the same for the lower level Behr paints as well. You get what you pay for even with the cheaper BM paints like a Super Hide or similar you wont get as great coverage as you would with the better lines. BM Regal Select covers in two coats and that's what you want anyway, you'll never get a quality paint job with one coat coverage and anyone who says they can is not telling the truth.
