I hit the Cave Creek Regional Park and hooked up a loop, riding Slate, Quartz, Flat Rock, and Military trails. The plan was to head out east on Slate Trail, and do a counter clockwise loop. However, after talking to some local riders, I went clockwise hitting the trails in the order previously mentioned. Slate was a little rough and rocky with multiple wash dives. Quartz was actually a nice fairly smooth trail, but with a steep steady climb up to the Quartz / Flat Rock intersection. I then headed east on Flat Rock for a fun snakey downhill. Military had multiple different section with a little bit of everything. Last I headed west on Slate to return to the trailhead. Slate was just about as diverse as Military. Sections of loose rocky climbs, mini waterfalls, rolling slate formations, and smooth wide single track, leading back to the rough rollers and wash dives. Al in all it was a great little loop. I'd love to go back and do a little exploring on some of the offshoots.
