The Maison des Rochers is located in the hamlet of Graufthal in the Eschbourg commune of the department of Bas-Rhin. These three semi-troglodyte rock houses were restored and refurbished with furniture and mementos of the past in 1958.
Surrounded by dense forests and overlooked by huge pink sandstone walls, Graufthal owes its origin to a Benedictine convent first mentioned in the 12th century. Near the remains of the abbey, the Maisons des Rochers offer to this unique site in Alsace a particular beauty.
We visited this place in Easter holidays and were quite impressed by its history and location.
