During the Cave rescue exercise in Drum cave at Bungonia National Park, a once in a generation rain event caused a flash flood in the cave, the exercise had to be aborted. The entrance pitch of 60m turned into a waterfall. At this point it became a self-rescue with all cavers and Special Operations Team Paramedics exiting the cave safely.
A special thanks to all involved, NSW Cave Rescue, VRA and NSW Ambulance.
