This really is history in the making! September 22nd, 2012 marks the first time since 1968 that the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy's 'Nebraska Zephyr' (now beautifully preserved by the Illinois Railway Museum) departed Chicago Union Station on its original home rails. The articulated, streamlined train set is led by EMD E5 #9911A, the 'Silver Pilot', a beautiful, classic passenger unit. The train is bound for the Mississippi Valley city of Quincy, Illinois on an Illinois Railway Museum-organized excursion trip.
