now that is a nice old school CB radio. It has a lot of bells and whistles. I have never seen one like this before. I think it has lots of potential.

I fixed many of those radios with cold solder joints and pll blocks Those are good radios until they break

Radio is in great shape. At that price it was a steal ! Glad you won it. I took a look at it before I closed the bench for the night. Looks like voltage issues. Maybe a bad cap or regulator.

They are a very nice radio sir. I have one myself. The cost of them today is you really can’t modify them in any way because it affects value…. Mine is about as clean as yours but I don’t have the sticker on the top case. I also own a lot of CPI gear…. Cp2000 with about 6 of its optional base pieces. And 2 HR2510 both with the option of the chip switch. I count myself lucky considering the way prices are going today. All the best to you sir. Cheers from down down under. 👍🥃🇦🇺

Had one and it had to have the driver transistor replaced repeatedly. It would last about 3 to 6 months. Supposedly fixed each time. Had been tested and set to factory specs by professional fcc qualified technicians and it still happened. None of them ever figured out why it kept doing it. Obviously something was defective in the radio, but it must have tested okay. Eventually, I just sold the thing.

Bad IF transistor will cause a no rf gain issue OR VCO coil out of adjustment that is where i would start brother. You need to see if it`s oscillating.

The real super thing with the GE CB's was the GREAT Non fatiguing RX audio. Clearly the had Real high end audio engineers design the AF section because, you could listen to the band all night and never have the typical fatigue and other neg. effects you got from listening to other even expendive rigs. The problem with all the GE CB's was thatvforca huge company with the engineering resources they had, the TX Audio was only average or less. So they lost out in the market to Cb's with GREAT Audio Out like the Tram's and Presidents or even tube Icons like Poly Com's or radios you could easily MODIFY to have super audio out like the Sonar's and certain Lafayette models. But for Receive audio they eere Amazing!!!!
