not admissible in court but employers continue to rely on them for hiring.

Poly was the reason I got dropped from the Border Patrol process...was looking good till I took the poly and basically got called a liar to my face by the examiner. Ended up going local law enforcement, which I passed their poly with no problem asking basically the same questions as Border Patrol, CBP is loosing a lot of good applicants because of their testing methods.

Polygraph is a joke!! Kept insisting on any drug use in the past 3 years. I have none! Wasted my time and money. Requesting days off.. 6 hour drive. Booking a hotel for the night. Just how I told the examiner, I’m here with nothing to hide and wouldn’t waste my time and money. I could have spent it with my kids instead.

@@ciscomarquina3031 Good to know I wasn't the only one, lady who administered mine kept insisting that I was either a user or seller of drugs none of which I've ever done. I was looking good in the hiring process till the poly ended that career goal.

Polygraph examiners are not supposed to have any decision in the results in terms of cbp/bpa/etc. They are simply there to ask questions and send in results for a third party to determine. I sat in a room for 8 hours and the guy even made me do a silent answer which means my physical ones were "normal". Upon completion he pretty much forced me to write a letter in the room stating why I may have failed, biggest mistake ever don't do that ever! HE TOLD ME WHAT TO WRITE! but I was so determined to get the job I listened to him. I did CBP along with 5 of of my coworkers and we all failed. Oh and the kicker we already worked for DHS.

Andy, did you have a security clearance? If so, did failing the poly affect your clearance?
@Andy-yk8xm
6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Snitzer the only clearance I had was the one issued through TSA. Unfortunately even through other dhs agencies it means nothing. Clearance is the last thing you need to worry about. The extent of clearance is just a more extensive background check. Cbp or bp is a given if you have no criminal history or resided with someone with criminal history but if you plan on going higher up such as fbi ss you literally need a perfect history...not even knowing anyone with criminal history

APA requires examiners to score their own charts and have at least one other examiner score the charts so no, they do not just send them off for analysis.

@TheChaosWithinn its alright man. The only advice i can give is try to stay calm and keep very still. If you move even a little it voids the results. Try and focus on something when they question you. Using visual aids help you focus like a mark on the wall or anything.
