It is. Better than I thought. My worry of buying a bike that looks great, but which I’d never ridden, was, ‘what if it’s a terrible ride?’ Thankfully this isn’t a problem. The wide bars accommodate the big front tyre, and the riding position is surprisingly comfortable.

That's a handsome jewel of a bike to my eyes. I think its engine is the Husqvarna-derived SWM motor that I had in a trailie I used to own, in which case I'm certain that you're going to have a lot of fun on it.
@PeakMotorcycles
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Keith, I could be wrong but I think it’s the 600cc BMW developed, and Husqvarna made engine from the time when the former owned the latter and put it in the TE630. I think SWM then took this and made some tweaks to the fuel injection and elsewhere for the Superdual X. That said, I’m not sure where the CCM evolution of the engine sits on that timeline. Hopefully towards the later end!

Thanks Neil! I’ve only been out a few times. I haven’t put the side number plate on yet, but I see there’s quite a vibration on the right side rear indicator, so perhaps I’ll do that sooner rather than later. If you have the side number plate bracket, may I ask if you used a full size number plate or a, ‘display plate’
@neilbicknell8029
2 жыл бұрын
@@PeakMotorcycles I did think about the side plate but felt it more suited the bobber plus there is the indicator issue. I have a smaller plate and spent a lot of time improving the rear bracket and wiring…it does vibrate but hasn’t caused any issues yet.

308 lbs is uber light. A CB300R weighs 317 is which is uber light for an inexpensive mass produced bike. No airbox on the CCM! I wonder why mass produced bikes have them. It contributes greatly to the looks of the CCM. I just got a 2022 Vitpilen 401. It's as close as I can get to owning a CCM. Subscribed.

Mine Stealth Six arrived a few weeks ago now, without the mag wheels like yours. I think the spokes look better. I have fitted a Datatool Stealth Tracker and invested in a lithium Optimate to insure it stays charged. On the subject of the mirror holes Magura make replacements without the mirror inserts. Might invest in that chain guard, looks good. Incidentally my bike came with Black forks? Sounds like they were running out of parts towards the end of the run?
@PeakMotorcycles

The delivery guy did mention that mine wasn’t the only one missing the wheels. Did you get the double brembo’s at the front? (Mine weren’t ordered but turned up anyway). For the magura part, I just put a blanking plug in and turned it upside down. I have a stealth tracker on other bikes so perhaps I should add one to this? I also got some budget leather RFID tags from Amazon that work as replacement keys.
@MrDGS999

@@PeakMotorcycles Good idea turning upside down, didn't think of that. I've blanked the left side. I think the only issue with the tracker would be the drain, but the Optimate works as expected. No dual disc for me, the rest as ordered.The black front forks look great, assume off Maverick? I didn't go with the flatscreen but shorty levers, Monza cap, rad cover and engine covers in carbon etc. Have got the stage one upgrade, although still running in so unsure of performance yet. Could you send me the link for the RFID tags as the delivery chap mentioned them, thanks and good luck with the bike

Aye, they put on a good show. I gave in to temptation last year at the NEC. As for panniers or a top box… not sure there’s anywhere for a pencil case 🤣. They do a tank strap, with is a bit like a tiny pouch on a belt for the fuel tank, but I suspect I’ll stick to a backpack if I need something. They do other bikes with a larger subframe which are a bit more practical. I have other practical bikes for luggage days!

The front brake fluid holder, ( which looks like a urine sample ) sticking out of the handlebar, looks awful ! For a custom built special, surely they could have used a different front brake reservoir/lever arrangement, like on my X-Max 300 which is effective, inconspicuous, and unobtrusive.

I have seen a few reviews of late with a lot of owners selling their bikes after only a short period of ownership. This could be for many reasons. I suspect a lot of potential buyers at the NEC were drawn to that Union Jack on the pretty tank and the name, 'Spitfire', only to discover the bike didn't exactly live up to expectations once they acquired it. It certainly is unique in its looks and draws understandable attention but that is not enough. It appears it is not delivering as it should. Fun fact: Of all the variants of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter plane built, the Mk6 was the most unpleasant to fly. Spitfire is an illustrious name. CCM should call this machine something else. CCM should have named this machine something else.
@PeakMotorcycles
Жыл бұрын
That is a lot of speculation, opinion, and a bit of repetition there. Everyone is different of course and likes different things. I really like mine, and will be keeping it, though other than a tiny badge on the CCM logo, mine is Union Flag free. May I ask if you’ve ridden one?

What would you suggest instead? 70hp in a 140kg bike with decent brakes and sharp geometry doesn’t need complex electronics to be an interesting bike. If you need electronics to make your bike rideable, then perhaps the bike isn’t the problem? I agree it’s not the perfect bike, and could be improved, (as could any bike), but of all the bikes I have, this is the one that attracts attention wherever it goes.
@chukzn17

@@PeakMotorcycles it does the same job as a 50cc pit bike , feels the same too , i think more torque and a higher range of rpm would make it alot more enjoyable to ride, mostly i think its majorly overpriced for what it is, what are the bikes competitors?
@PeakMotorcycles
Жыл бұрын
@@chukzn17 I haven’t ridden a 50cc pit bike, so can’t really say on that, but I would have thought that a 70hp bike would ride differently to one with less than 10 (less than 5?) hp. As for similar bikes, I don’t think there are many that are a similar weight and power, produced in low volume with components of this spec which is why CCM have a six+ month waiting list for these and why their stands are always packed at the shows. I get that they are not everyone’s taste (and clearly not yours) and that is fine. It would be boring if we all liked the same thing, but opinions are very different from facts and if you think Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and carbon fibre components are cheap and pathetic, then that is an opinion of yours not shared by many. May I ask if you have ridden a CCM?
@chukzn17

@@PeakMotorcycles i think they are cool looking bikes. I just cant get over the price , if you look at a street triple rs for example, pretty much the same price bracket, its a no brainer for me. I agree with you, its all personal opinions , and yea i have ridden this spitfire six, the mirror fell off whilst riding, i couldnt see my indicator lights on dash, my boot lace got caught in the chain and a soaking backside from no rear mudguard lol
@PeakMotorcycles
Жыл бұрын
@@chukzn17 the dash on the CCM’s is undeniably crap 🤣, the laces might not be entirely the bikes fault and the mirror sounds like someone didn’t fit it right. As for the Street RS comparison, for me, they are very different bikes. The Street is a mass produced, unfaired sportsbike with a brilliant, high revving triple, the CCM with it’s enduro derived single has a very different character. It’s certainly down on power, (mine has the stage 1 ECU so it’s 70hp vs the RS’s 128hp) but the CCM is also lighter (dry weight is 139kg vs 166kg) and if it’s used for riding country lanes and fast A roads it feels fast enough. I have a Honda CB1000R in the garage with the 2015 fireblade engine which fulfils that naked sportsbike thing for me. The CCM’s are not cheap bikes, but then they only make a small number, and the fact that they have a waiting list means that even at the current price, demand exceeds supply. Not that everyone demands one either…. I get that it’s not the bike for everyone, but for me, I enjoy it and it was definitely worth the cost.
