Canadian Foodgrains Bank has several locations in W. Canada where a field is donated and the crop is planted, sprayed and harvested by local volunteers throughout the season. The harvest is the "glamorous" part that attracts some local watchers to take in the field being harvested.
This site is near Elm Creek, Manitoba and was a field of canola that yielded slightly better than the area average.
Time, equipment and inputs are donated by local growers in the Elm Creek area
All the proceeds are donated to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to combat world hunger - a great project!
