Since my stove BRS and Toaks pot weigh nothing, I really don’t get it but for many it’s a thing. No hot coffee leave me out. He is carrying that Anker and for his needs it’s a must buy it’s super heavy. He is very light but because he films his light gear is made heavy carrying all If his filming gear. I also don’t know how he does water carry’s with that pack. Desert travel with eight liters must be brutal. He does it and he is young.

Can you please explain the dramatic shift in handling of your Waymark EVLV pack on the channel? This is an item that you've touted on numerous occasions and have been very public about having helped co-design. Would definitely appreciate some transparency in why you've gone to de-branding all of your Waymark items (which you're still using) and actively NOT linking to their site in your gear list.

I agree-- as much as he publicly vouched for the Pack that he helped design.(and many subs bought) there should be some transparency on his end with his subs on the move away from them.
@willek1335
3 жыл бұрын
>Not sponsored. >Payed for the pack. >Now that we're past that. Perhaps he doesn't want to go into it (now). In the delicate balance between transparency and privacy, I don't feel entitled to an explanation. Too much transparency can make me feel vulnerable and exposed. When that happens, I tend to conceal what I've done that deviates from normal procedures, so I don't have to explain it. Healthy boundaries can be necessary. Between him and other YTers/companies, giving feedback and evaluating, and experimenting in various projects. I feel like I trust his judgement. Thank you.

@@willek1335 I understand what your saying, but disagree when it comes to this specific situation. That pack is something he has promoted over and over on his Channel. Its a pack he co-designed. There is no telling how many of his subs bought that pack specifically becauase its something he promoted/Co-Designed. The shift away from them and de-branding something he previously promoted I think he should be transparent on plain and simple.

Regarding the de-branding of Waymark on a pack that Darwin helped to design, from a business perspective, I could see an argument for doing it strategically if...dun dun dun...Outdoor Evolution was maybe in development of a bag. I have no idea if that has any shred of reasonable accuracy, but if it's been long enough without sponsorship and Darwin knows he has the lions share of the backpacking community behind him, instant business on building up his brand with useful and quality gear. I own an OE hat and it's the only one I wear, would easily buy a pack and anything else produced.

Something changed for sure - it's normal for thru-hikers and other ultralighters to remove labels, excess straps, etc. to save weight, but he's shown it with the labels in other gear list videos. In the past, he's mentioned it by name and talked about how he helped design it, plus done a whole video on the pack. I'm not sure what the reason is, but now he didn't name the pack or brand, didn't provide a link, and removed the label. He certainly doesn't owe us an explanation, but I'm definitely curious - if he's doing this for a specific reason, maybe others who were previously considering the pack should look elsewhere.
