The cedar waxwing is a social species and lives in large flocks of several hundred birds. The red wing tips of the cedar waxwing are the result of a pigment found in many of the fruits this species feeds on. The cedar waxwing has been known to become intoxicated when feeding on overripe, fermenting fruit. It may take the cedar waxwing up to 6 days to build its nest, and over 2,500 trips to collect suitable material.
