There are also factors as to why people should only be viewed as special on certain days. Like Mothers Day or fathers Day or valentines Day. Your wife or husband should always be seen as special and be given gifts if you can afford it or even feed them or prepare something nice, not just on one day.

Also, in regards to Valentine's, birthdays, mothers Day, and fathers day. In Islam, your wife and husband, mother, and father should never be seen as special only on one day but be seen as special every day. If you can bear them gifts, go ahead.

Christians also shouldn't celebrate birthdays just the same. I live with a non-denominational evangelical and he also follows this practice of not celebrating birthdays.

All I want to say is that I was living and life of sin and Jesus avsoolutely changed my life. He can do the same. I grew up in a Christian home but never understood and never knew the Bible well. All of a sudden I was filled with the Holy Spirit and it was I like anything I ever felt. I went from feeling worthless and feeling like I had no purpose to finding a purpose in Jesus. I want to spread this good news that others may be saved and feel his powerful and wonderful presence. Give your life to Jesus. It will be the greatest decision you will ever make

Celebrating birthdays is not haram. If you know someone’s birthday and you are glad that that someone was born, you could absolutely celebrate that day (as long as you don’t venture into haram or makrouh ways of celebration, ie. alcohol, nudity, lewdness, etc…). God would never forbid innocent happiness since He’s the one who ensured its occurrence in the first place by creating the person that you’re glad was born. Hope this helps.

There's no way to celebrate a happy moment with family other than this, go back where it originated and who taught you this way of celebrating, kuffar right. Please Mufti , Show more wisdom in your analogy as celebrating birthdays is a moment of rejoicing in a family , no harm , receiving gifts and reinforcing relationships between siblings for example , get together as long it is not damaging our faith in Allah Almighty and modifying our religion , Islam . Unfortunately biased Muslim clerics have decided to make most of simple things haram based on their opinion. Was the use of candles banished in Islam ? I don’t think so even on a birthday. My point is we can celebrate birthdays in modesty no exaggeration. Islam is such a beautiful religion and unfortunately clerics debate over insignificant topics like birthdays as a justification to their religiosity . Muslim need to reflect and think for themselves , here birthday is not religious ceremony but a family event . I am not for parties either but I have no problem having a birthday celebration for my children , even with candles on , treat them with gifts and make duas for them also . Why would I face retribution from a Merciful Almighty Allah !! Amina

Im a Christian. Jesus told the Pharisees let anyone who hasn’t sinned throw a stone at the women who committed adultery. Though as a Christian I don’t believe in Islam, we have all fallen just as short which is why you should lovingly tell someone to turn from evil.
