That's the traditional 21 gunshots (firing blanks) salute from these ceremonial WW2 howitzers timed perfectly for the duration while the President inspects the guards of honor at the parade. It switched from firing on land to firing on water for spectacle and drama effect fully utilizing the Marina bay.😊

The 21 gun salute is the highest military honour conferred only to the president and the gun you see is the british 25-pounder howitzer

Yup... You need a guide to explain what is going on. The parade started at 7pm. The freefallers you saw were meant to rah-rah the spectators at the parade square. At 7pm, the marching contingents started to form up into the parade square then waiting for the cabinet, then the Prime Minister and finally the President to arrive. After the arrival of the President, the Parade saluted her and the national anthem was played. That was when you saw the helicopters with the national flag flying past. After the national anthem, the President will inspect the parade, that was when you saw the artillery guns making the traditional salute. After the President finished her inspection, the first set of fighter jets was to salute her and the second set was to salute the nation, followed by a few aerobatics. Then the parade marched out at around 7.30pm followed by a mobile column being them. 7.45pm was when the performance, interpretations of our prior struggles and our wish for the future, started and lasted until 8.30pm.

It’s hard to get those free ticket, the next best thing is to view local tv channel on the parade and be around there to feel the gun shot, jet whooping pass and the festive vibes around. Love you guys, welcome to Singapore ❤

Singapore had role to play in India's Independence. Indian National Army was formed in 1942 under Rash Behari Bose by Indian POWs of the British Indian Army captured by Japan in the Malayan campaign and at Singapore. Rash Behari handed over INA to great Subhas Chandra Bose. he set up provisional government for free India in Singapore. then started the war of indian independence from the British. it was one of the most Epic battle with very little help from the Japanese. after Japan surrender at the end of world war 2 the battle of INA also ended and the soldiers were captured by British army. Brits decided to conduct a public trial on 3 commanders of Ina-Dhillon, Sahgal, Khan. as the news of Netaji with his Army fought against the British spread the entire British Indian Navy revolted in 1946. because of this already weakened British army because of WW2 could not hold onto India and they left in 1947. in 1956 when British pm Clement Attlee came to India then Bengal Governor asked him why British leave India. to which Attlee replied that the role played by Netaji army was paramount for India's Independence.

This stevenlim9640 in the comment section is a salty malaysian! Out of jealousy like many of his country people from malaysia, likes to badmouth Singapore whenever there is a video about Singapore! But the crime rate in his country is even worse than in Singapore!
