I love that the voiceover guy was so proud of the little editing trick that he spent 30 seconds talking about it in the middle of a train video also I think train fans would probably appreciate it too, because of the way they are

I'm a huge model toy train enthusiast myself as well a huge fan of TM Books and Video. The reason why they filmed Frank Sinatra's layout after his passing was because back in 74 when Sinatra called TM for one of their Lionel train books, they didn't make videos at the time and not to mention that Sinatra was very popular and they wouldn't have been able to film it in the years prior to his passing. The guy telling the story is the founder and owner of TM Books and Video Tom McComas, who is a friend of mine and one of the people who got me interested in collecting toy trains and that was filmed inside his studio in Michigan City, Indiana where he makes many productions on toy trains, such as the very popular I Love Toy Trains series. It is indeed a relaxing hobby and I along with many other enthusiasts agree and we all love and enjoy the loud sounds of the trains and the accessories, the coal loader shown is from the pre and post war period of WWII so they used the technology they had back in the day, which were often AC current Pullmor motors. Each layout builder and enthusiast approaches differently and that is part of why this hobby is so much fun. Also the runtime on these videos vary because they include previews of other toy train productions.

So growing up, I had this friend. And his younger sibling was really into trains. Like... really. Really into them. Like, putting pictures on the wall of trains kissing. But he had also memorized every single thing about the entire history of trains, streetcars, buses, etc. Train people are just... different.

As a dork who’s loved model trains their entire life and grew up watching other videos from TM this review was hilarious. Good work! Also the reason the 1957 “Girl’s Train” is kind of a big deal among collectors is because, unsurprisingly, it was a massive flop and sold so horribly that all the unsold stock ended up being painted into regular train colors instead. It’s very rare to find an original Girl’s Train today as a result.

Not got much to say about polo holes but remember solero shots? Because of a lack of proper cold chain distribution in the UK it often meant that you'd just get a big mass of lime ball bearings stuck together in the bottom of a container that looked a walnut whip. Remember walnut whips?

I'll at least commend you for giving it an honest shot, as to someone outside the hobby it must look odd as all get-out. TM's production values are definitely homegrown, though I think they do a better job on their non-celebrity model train content. A Century of Lionel Trains, Lionel Nation, and The Golden Age of Toy Trains are some of my favorites. Seeing how others make their layouts is interesting, as no two are alike, and there are a lot of creative people out there. Often eccentric, I will grant you, but passionate people often are.

my favorite polo product was the "injection" based polo mint which came in a big syringe. it was basically the goo used to craft the normal polos but without the setting agent and you would squirt it into your mouth. it was discontinued after a girl in Devon injected several whole packages of them into her arm and died of mint overdose but i think most polo fans agree she knew what she was doing.

Some of us mostly collect and resort antique trains. Some collectors also build layouts. Depending on your budget you can have any level of this hobby that fits your budget. Stick with the older style conventional (Pre 1970s) powered Lionel locomotives because there aren't any expensive electronics that are nearly impossible to repair.
