At the youth group I attend, we play King of the Hill. This is the same game with different categories such as food and sports.

When we have played this game, we just choose something random things. I really like the idea of doing it this way!

How can I use good games and techniques to include those youth who always sit at the back quietly and not participate or play with their phones ?

Great question with no easy answer! Sometimes that kid is just waiting to be asked! Sometimes that kid is being forced to be there and no amount of you inviting is going to really get them engaged. My biggest successes are having kids do the inviting and setting the expectations of “this is what we do: we play together, and we want you!”

Totally agree, i change a little bit the way i play the youth games. Instead of asking the kids at the back to join, i invited the youth who loss in the game, go to the back and greet those kids at the back

Biggest thing I’m wary of is forcing kids to join in the games. It will only harbor resentment

If people forget some of the names, do you reread the list?

Great question! You can make the call. We used to, but then instead I started having the remaining kids play 20 Questions to figure out who the person was. So the question, instead of being "are you [such and such celebrity]," is "is your person fictional," etc. Hope that helps!
