Just adding to the many gear shootouts on youtube! I am running my AC30CCH head into two different cabs. I forgot to mention i am plugged into the normal channel of the amp. The master is at 1:30 and the preamp is super low…around 7:30 …well below band rehearsal volumes. I know you probably want to hear the amp cranked…but this is a good test of the tone at a typical volume you would practice with at home for countless joyful hours without developing tinnitus.
I’d say the gain pedals were set more for the Celestion Blue cabinet since that’s what I work with all the time…I could have tweeked the pedals for the Greenback…but in a way that defeats the purpose of hearing the EQ difference between the two speakers. So the Simble Overdrive sounded a little fizzy with the Greenback but I could have easily remedied that by adjust the EQ on the Simble. Yeah so with a few tweaks both speakers are quite pedal friendly.
I noticed as you crank up the amp…and switch to the top boost channel, both speakers give up even more interesting traits.
Playing through a Japanese Fender 50s reissue Stratocaster.
Cheers and hope you are well!
