Seems to be a pretty good telescope for the price. It gives about as good of a image as my 2 6" f8 reflectors . I'll need to use it more to give a real opinion .
they stopped to make 120/1000 and started produce 100/1000 and again in 2023 they remake shorter 120. Problem was too heavy tube for tripod. I constructed light Hadley type with 120/1000

I'm thinking about getting one of these telescopes. Has it turned out to be a good one?

It has a lot of chromatic aberration. It ok on some stuff, terrible on others. I have 9 telescopes I'm sold on big aperture so for my money it's reflectors.

@@ww321 ok thanks. Any particular type of reflector that you favor? I've looked at the 8" Dobsonian that Orion has but the weight of it would make it a pain in the butt to get it in and out of my house.

@@jimconnoy6133 the down side to them is having to collimate the mirrors. I have 2 that I built with cheap Chinese mirrors and they work pretty good. I have cheap 114mm x 900mm on a equatorial mount. It works pretty good for it's size and only cost $60 at a yard sale. I see those on Facebook marketplace all the time for cheap. See if you can find one used locally 114mm on a equatorial mount. ( that's the mount you want) a few days ago there was one for $35. Save your money have fun with a cheap used one or 2. Then you'll have a better idea what to invest your money in. A good telescope is a big investment $$$$ probably more than I have in all 9 of mine. Hope this helps

@@ww321 I've always wanted a scope on an equatorial mount. I had a 3 inch refractor from Sears that my parents gave me when I was a kid. It was ok to a point. But it bit the dust years ago. I'm searching for a better one on an equatorial mount that I can use a siderial drive on.

@@jimconnoy6133 I took that $60 mount and put a$60 Celestron RA drive on it and that's been working pretty good. I have 4 telescopes that use the mount. I keep the legs collapsed in and it's really stable.

Great rig. I may have picked up a new hobby because of this video. By the way, did a short video on wiring up that MIG130 welder. Thanks for sharing the telescope. Cheers

You should do reviews of the two dobs you have in the background.

I was thinking about that. I have 8 telescopes . I just picked up a 60 year old 8" f9.5 mirror and a 110mm f4.5 doublet lens to build a couple more. As soon as I get other projects done I'll make some more videos. Thanks JW

1 to 10 what would you give the telescope

Wow that's a tough one. To be honest lately I've used it more than the others I have because, being on a tripod I can grab it and take it outside easier than the others. My reflectors are homemade and usually like to clean the mirrors and collimate them first. On some stuff the Celestron is as good as my 2=6" f8 reflectors like the moon. On other stuff the chromatic aberration is real distracting even disappointing. Aperture size is real important. If you are limited on what you can spend you might buy a used one.. cloudy nights forum is a good place to look. They have a classified section for people selling stuff. The information there from the members is unlimited. You might look around and find something cheap locally. I just picked up a 114mmx500mm reflector on a good Equatorial mount for $80. Something cheap would hold you over till you decide what to spend real money on. I have a Meade ETX 60mm I've seen some cool stuff with . My dumpster scope , a 3" f7 reflector, I've seen Jupiter and Saturn. What ever you get you'll see cool stuff. You'll just see it better with bigger and more expensive equipment

. Definitely not good for astrophotography, slow focal ratio of 8.3 and 1000mm focal length. Hopefully a reducer helps.

I bought one second hand. Does your focus lens move smoothly? mine works but it moves from side to side when it slides. Previous owner has looked after it but no idea why it does this.

I'm not sure what you mean? Mine is really smooth. I'm not sure why you're would or even could move side to side. The focuser rack and pinion are centered and should move the focus tube straight in and out

@@ww321 The mechanical term is that my focuser has play in it. I think its normal because it is focusing and i checked the alignment with the Refractor Collimating Eyepiece, it just makes the image move when im trying to fine focus. Its the only thing i would say that is negative about it. Its easy to setup and move about and i have now after some practice got good image views of Saturn Jupiter and Mars.

@@arielatomhc ok I went out and looked at mine. I see the movement in mine too . I haven't see it as a problem though. There are 2 adjustment screws opposite the focus knobs.

Yes it does. The good thing is I can grab it on the base and carry it over my shoulder where ever I want. Moving my 6" reflectors is more difficult
