Your info at the end was all accurate. The main difference between the zinki and kouki 6.7's is the spline count on the axle shafts. The exact spline count numbers has fallen out of my roladex, but thank you for giving out great information!

I have a 72 corolla te27 I currently dont have a rear. Does a 1972 celica rear fit on my te27?? I would appeciate any help you can give

72 corolla is going to be a little different than the later cars. The axles were narrower and they were leaf sprung instead of 4 link.

can i use a 7.5 out of a pickup and swap in celica axles so i can keep 4 lugs? very helpful video
@deathwobble

The truck axle is wider I believe. So the 4 lug van or Celica axles would be too short. It is relatively easy to redrill the 5 lug axle to 4 lug though

@@deathwobble Awesome! My biggest concern with my Celica GT is the fact that it has drums instead of discs. My goal in the end is to find a way to get a limited slip diff and disc brakes on it so this is really encouraging. Thanks for all your help!

The S312 that's in my TE21 is absolutely screaming right now, so I've been debating what to go with. I have another unknown 6.3", but I'd rather upgrade while it's out. A 4 lug van would be great, but I'm pretty sure it'd be way too wide lol First gen Supra would probably be perfect, but I'm not spending that much on an axle lol I'll probably just end up with a Celica axle too.

The van axle isn't a ton wider than the car. But it is wider.

Hey man, beginner here, I have a 72 te27, I believe the final drive was 4.1. Question is, how high of a gear do I need so it doesn’t scream down the highway, but also doesn’t bog down in daily driving? Would I need a custom diff put in? Or can I find and swap another Toyota?

Is your car 4 speed or toyoglide (2speed)? If it's manual I would look for a 5 speed transmission. Overdrive in a t50 transmission is .80 wich is around 3500 rpm at 70 mph depending on wheel and tire size

Also most of the te3x/te7x have the 3.54-3.9 depending on auto/manual and 4/5 speed so you having a 4.10 is really nice and should be kept around even if you do end up putting another gear ratio in it

@@johnlewis8156 it’s a 5 speed, believe a t50 trans, trying to make it into a better daily and the highway driving is so loud. I’ll have to check the engine tag like you said in the video to get an exact model code. I think as more of a general question, if I do find a way to get a higher final gear, it’ll bring down the rpm’s in all my gears, will I run the risk of bogging down? Sorry I’m a complete beginner

I have a te27 4.10 in my wagon. As John mentioned a 5 speed swap would be a great improvement. But any 8 bolt, 6.3" ring and pinion or complete 3rd member would fit your car. Most one from a te72 would be readily available and have a 3.5 or 3.7 ratio. The 3.7 would be a decent improvement in hwy rpm while maintaining some pep around town.

@@deathwobble thanks man, I’m guessing it’ll be hard to source. I was talking to Mike Muniz, Corolla king, about this, he said he swapped his te27 with some super high gears, I believe in the 3.1-3.5 range.

Hey I’m curious My axle whines a bit when I’m gassing about 55mph+, stops if I let off the gas, any ideas of this problem?? It’s stock te72 rearend so 6.3… what is the difference on celica/Supra models with gt or gts rearends for the 7.5?? Are they both lsd and/or discs/drums? There’s a couple celicas in my area at junkyards, was thinking about swapping after watching this video about it being practically bolt on and better. Also the driveshaft fits the same? No length or bolt pattern/size differences? Thanks for the info this far! Very descriptive!👍 👍

Lots to conver.. On throttle wine is usually the start of wearing out. Ring and pinion getting looser lash, of the pinion bearing losing preload. There is a Celica diff and a Celica supra diff. They are different. Celica will be a 6.7" ring and pinion. Basically a drum brake ae86 gts axle. The Celica supra axle is a 7.5 ring and pinion and disc brake. These are very rare. The Celica supra will often be lsd. The Celica is never going to be lsd. They pinion snout is slightly longer on these differentials. But the driveshaft will still work.
