The Olympics are in France and the song that Céline sings is the cult song in France written and sung by Edith Piaf in 1950. This song is symbolic for France. 100% right on in your reactions to Celine's song! She is the Queen in Canada, her voice is one I recognize immediately and I collect and listen to her music regularly. And... it is not music that can be listened to quietly.... I cannot play a Celine song without having the volume cranked. She has that voice that comes straight out of heaven to bless us here on earth... and her emotions, her vocals, her body movements during this song shows how much she is impacted by the enormity of what she is doing.. of what she has battled back from and continues to battle with. She deserves a gold medal for what she did to get her voice and her whole body to the point where she could safely (and to her highest standards) sing that song.... I'll be eternally grateful that she fought hard to allow us to hear her angelic voice raised in song once more! Bravo Celine!!

Yeah and an artist who cannot perform because of disease but would somehow do a playback (pre recorsed) performance on such a stage it would be really bad/badly received, at least in France we really don't like "fake". This is not hollywood, if you can't sing there are tons of others who can (although not like that of course, very impressive perf).

Well its a miracle how Celine was able to sing. In her documentary on Netflix she said she couldn't sing anymore like she used to so it was obviously a 'miracle' that she was able to stand up there and belt out her song.

If you look closely at the video when she's singing her throat is quivering. And her mouth is quivering when she's hitting those notes. So she's really actually singing, but people are gonna wanna say it's not her live But she is. She is. Back.

That's what I noticed too, that's one of the ways you can tell it's live. But I'm wondering where the orchestra is. The orchestra could possibly have already recorded their performance instrumentally for Celine and the piano player to play and sing along to later on for the Eiffel Tower performance, that could be a possible explanation.

@@DidrickNamtvedt I agree with that. Like a sound track for singers at church etc

Forget her illness... this is still the best thing ever, whether the singer is 100% healthy or no... she out Piafed Piaf which takes SOME doing. Achievement huge in spite of any obstacles or without any obstacles.
