Poor Ian! He did not deserve to get whacked in the head by a woman with a metal water bottle, he was just trying to perform and entertain the people in the subway, not to mention his music is incredibly good and he seems to be one of the most cellists I have ever seen! If I saw a musician performing in a subway, I'd never force them to stop. It's their music, so it's better to let them sing their song and play their instrument. Bless this guy's heart, saying I feel bad for him would be a drastic understatement. He deserves a pat on the back, a hug and maybe even a chocolate bar! Everyone, please don't use objects to hurt people. Always treat others the way you wish to be treated yourself (that's the golden rule that I always follow) and use resources wisely, not for violence.
