Is it true that clear "cellophane" or (what you would normally call) semi permanent color, will provide protection and shine to your hair... and you can put out directly over just colored hair for a outer protection.

i thought cellophanes were also known as rinses (jazzings for example)

My natural hair color is black, and in the last two years I started to dye my hair (for the first time) black using non permanent hair color to cover grey hair. I never used permanent hair color because I think it will be too harsh. I'm still a little confused between semi permanent and rinses, what's the differences and which one is better to cover grey and for hair health? I was thinking the ones with no ammonia/developer/peroxide/etc are considered rinses, and the ones with 5% developer are semi permanents. Not sure. The ones I use are the ones in bottles that you don't have to mix anything with such as clairol, silk elements, or jazzing. The issues I'm having with those is the color washes off the grey hair completely after the 2nd wash. Is there something better out there? I heard henna lasts longer? What's henna color?

I wonder if the Sebastian cellophane colors gray hairs?
