When the Romans left Britain to its own defences, they left an island full of early Christians (and a few Celtic druids and pagans) without direct access to the Pope, the Roman Catholic Church, or the rulebook! The Celtic Church was born! It started as a small Irish, Welsh, and Scottish cult and grew into a new sub-church full of saints, colourful legends, beautiful manuscripts, cathedrals and monasteries filled with treasure!
But how and why did this happen? Who were these saints? And why did the Britons and Irish have so many of them?
Join me as we look at an overlooked piece of British history and talk fun Welsh Celtic saints of Anglesey, my ancestral home, relics, the Pope, and some interesting Welsh place names!
(And we'll eat some cake, because it was my birthday right before I filmed this!)
