This character is... something. It takes a while to get used to.
I really really looked forward to this character when i first saw him, but the magic wore off when you play his kit at a higher levels.
Blocking/Matching attacks is mandatory. You can't spare a single judge point. All your interesting attacks hit late after you cast. You will reroll your deck so you can cast down right down right and up if you have Inhale by chance. You WILL get confused on what buttons to press once you start stealing a considerable amount of skills from your enemy. Combos get very confusing once you enter mid/late battle, which you will. Don't rely on Dodge. Don't use Dim early battle. Focus on building level while doing damage in the early battle.
The pros is : You get to stall your opponent until they have no more moves and is forced to loose. This is probably the most satisfying moment of the game. Surviving enough to hear the panic inducing beeps and seeing the judge meter go absolutely crazy as a debuff, only visible when you have no skills to draw, afflicts massive damage on your opponent.
So. A couple of tips for playing Hudaai.
1. Reroll as often as you can to get at least (Ghost Bolt / Sol Bolt) + Scare in the early battle. If you roll Inhale with it, perfect. Add it to the combo. You want to build level as you do damage. Inhale will let you steal skills and that's what this character is all about.
2. Don't cast Dim in the early game. Instead, hold your attacks and keep some NP to match during the opponent's turn. Dim will give you Dodge, but I find dodge to be unreliable with how little judge points you have to spare.
3. When selecting your item after a battle, I recommend prioritizing status modifiers, quick and guard over the actual item. You're playing the long game with this character. Anything that adds to your sustainability is preferable over damage. The exception being modifiers that can inflict bleed or fire.
Sidenote: All of the thumbnails youtube is suggesting to me all have the smoke effect active! :D
I want to play more of him because I truly like his gimmick and design. It's just a shame that he really has a hard time recovering from the judge :(
He's a total 180 from the other characters I played so far. It feels like one hell of a learning curve.
