im so happy to have come across this. My Mom and grandparent' s were from Buffalo. Great grandparents came from Poland and settled at 19 Miller Ave building their home in 1906.. Visited as a child many times in the 60's and 70's.

We used to drive past this terminal when visiting our grandmother's house. She lived on Bristol, and we lived on Riley. As kids, we always loved to see the high tower and marvel at the beauty of the interior. If Buffalo is smart and wants to promote tourism, this grand old lady should be restored to its ultimate.

I remember Buffalo Central Terminal when I was a child during my first nine years of my life when I had lived in the Buffalo area in Buffalo, Kenmore, Town of Tonawanda & the City of Tonawanda. The last time I was there in the Buffalo area was the 1971 Labor Day weekend. I would go there to Central Terminal with my late parents when they had to send packages to be shipped or pick up parcel packages. Amtrak should have never left Central Terminal at all. It would be very nice if the walkway to the platform area would be restored and Amtrak return to Central Terminal.

I volunteer because I want to see this building in a better shape than it is now.

I look at these and other videos and am just incredulous that it was abandoned and just left to rot. Decades ago, I remember taking AMTRAK to Buffalo and being let off at a station that reminded me of a trailer park. Just sad.

I grew up on 143 Sears Street and went to Corpus Christi and we used to go sledding off the Hills on the sides of the Central Terminal walkway

You folks are lucky...Michigan Central Terminal in Detroit is unlikely to be ever saved or restored. Like the Buffalo Central Terminal the Detroit Terminal has been totally stripped for scrap. Railroad crews used to stay in one of the upper floors of the Buffalo Central Terminal in what was known as the "dark rooms"...blacked out windows and no lights so the crews could sleep in the day or night - no noise allowed.

This place should have been torn down years ago. It looks the same today like it did in mid 1980's. Stop talking about what you're gonna do with it and tear it down already. Nothing has been done with it and never will.

@pauldiddy6273 with that logic we might as well tear down grand central terminal and tear down buffalo city hall and tear down the Frank Lloyd Wright house. Should the whole city be torn of its monuments and left with glass boxes and parking lots? Take a look inside the terminal, it’s getting worked on. It’s not all cosmetic, they’ve also secured the building and kept the main concourse from leaking and gotten the clock and light fixtures back. At the moment they’re looking for redevelopment partners and devolving a park on the great lawn. If you want it to continue to get cleaned up you could actually support the restoration effort.
