You've convinced me! Cerinthe seeds are now on my list for next year.

I just bought a pack of these seeds off of seller on Etsy and I’m an experimental type and rather new to gardening and I had great success floating amaryllis seeds on peroxide / water. So I’m doing cerinthe major seeds. I took four of the eight seeds, put them in a cup of water with a tablespoon of peroxide into a glass jar and covered it with Saran-wrap and within three days I’ve already got roots forming on the seeds. It kind of blows my mind because it says 7 to 21 days. I’m gonna try dropping one in soil now, save three to see if they can keep spouting in the perixode water longer for roots. I’m rambling. Lovely video. Thank u.

I have a large bed of these in Suffolk UK but am aiming to establish new plants from seeds I have gathered. No problems with slugs. This was helpful . . . And charming. Thanks.

Thanks for the video! I’m starting these seeds right now. Just wanted to get an idea of how the full grown plant looks. I’m going to plant them in the top of my Greenstalk planter 😊

We ordered seeds from Amazon. Guest what happened!🤷🏻♀️ ONLY one seed germinated AND it was an entirely different plant. Aren't you shocked?😏 I think we'll buy seeds from another reputable seed co. I really want this beautiful plant in our garden.

Hmm I’m not sure if I would ever buy seeds on Amazon!!! Is there a local seed exchange where you live? Or gardening clubs ???

@@plantspeak7117 lesson learned😔... NEVER again!😩 Possibly, I'd have to look for one in my area.🤷🏻♀️ We first saw it on a local garden tour, so I might write to the gardeners and see if they'd mind sending us some of their seeds.☺️

I'm just about to try starting some of these. I'm not really a flower grower, more a veg grower. Only tried a few things like Sunflowers and lavender. But I just liked the way these looked. Very cool looking flowers.

Also I didn't realise they grow tall like that. I kind of thought they would be half that height. Interesting.

They are beautiful and quite easy ! It’s nice that the seeds are so large too. You can do it! And you will enjoy their height and colors all season long!

Oh, wow. I was just out in my garden & wondered if I should cut out these invasive plants again. But, they're so pretty, very hardy, & I knew they would grow back because they always do. The problem is that I didn't plant them, didn't know what they were (some kind of succulent?) and I like the little purple blooms so should I let them run rampant over my other plants? Again? Well, to be clear, they aren't a true invasive, they just like to spread, grow tall & smother my other plants. So, I thought it was high time I found out what they were. Out came my PlantSnap which gave the name honeywort & Cerinthe. Then I found your great video! Now I appreciate them more & found out so much about them. I do remember those little seeds (that sadly, I ignored, but will now collect & put in a more appropriate place in the garden). It doesn't look like they are toxic to cats. I don't usually cut flowers & bring them inside because of little Chew-It-If-It-Moves kitty. =^..^= Anyway, thank you for enlightening me :)

Oh! I’m so glad my video was helpful! I can see why you thought maybe succulent, their foliage has a bit of a succulent look, but they don’t have that thick water storage characteristic that succulents have :). Yes- I think seed collection will be the best way to control spreading and crowding out other plants . OR , cut and make bouquets if you think you’re getting too many !

Yes, I will too watch your other videos. It seems when somebody goes through a plant and speaks about it scientifically and aesthetically it makes you fall in love with it

These cerinthe stems look gorgeous! I’m growing them for the first time this year. Didn’t know the seeds are so big until I opened the packet😂 Hopefully the quick dip in water would be sufficiently helpful to soften the seed shell

Thank you for this advice. I've just got some of these seeds and I've been trying to get plants that slugs and snails don't like. Now I know to transplant them into a container along with my Hosta's that the slugs and snails also like. My tip is copper tape around the base of the container and I also put some further up. I crinkle the tape for further effect and not only does it deter the slimey pests but also looks quite decorative🙂

Thank you so much! Your video was so thorough and thoughtful. I stumbled upon this pretty variety while planning next years garden but it SO hard to find good information on it. I’ll definitely be adding this beauty to my cut flower garden! 🫶🏻

@@plantspeak7117 I have a packet of seeds but wasn't sure when to start it indoors and when to put out in my zone 3 b flower farm . Although those questions weren't answered I found your description of the plant and it's growing habit thoroughly enjoyable. I was too tired to explain because I watched your video later in the evening

@@helenachase5627 you can always ask! I try to keep my videos shorter because attention spans are short these days, and there is usually a recommendation on the seed packet for that, but I started mine indoors last year in March under grow lights. Of course they’d still make it to flower if you direct seeded after frost .

@@helenachase5627 I didn’t have any issues aside from wishing that I had planted only a whole area of cerinthe together instead of a mix and match pot. I did get a lot of tiny webs from spiders but that’s just my hot and dry, south facing location . I doubt you’ll have the same issue
