I’ve had my kit for about a year waiting for this video to come out. I can TIG weld and I have a press I just don’t know what parts if any I’m missing or need. Looking forward to leaning to building mine while watching you build yours!

I just finished my kit this morning and plan to test fire this week at some point. I made my own jig and bent my flat. The carrier almost dropped free, had expand it a little. I used 3/8" drive deep chrome sockets on an extention as mandrels to get the carrier to drop free which worked perfectly. I tack welded the receiver where it belonged, so the trunnion was tight and no movement, seems some weld the trunnion and barrel in then have to bend it or do it over. There are no videos on this platform of a complete step by step build of this rifle, so yours will help others. After head spacing, before pinning, I installed the trunnion with barrel, cocking tube, front sight, bolt and trigger group that I converted to semi, and stock with recoil spring/guide rod for a test fit and quick line up and to make sure the carrier with bolt went into battery and spaced correctly. Took apart, pinned the barrel, inserted in trunnion, cocking tube assembly with stock and lower and lined up and tacked the trunnion, then spaced the cocking handle, tacked the tube, re-checked, then welded it all up. Only issue I had was the hammer spring was so strong, it was difficult to charge and would hold the carrier back. Had to re-profile the hammer and polish the contact surfaces and now is smooth. Most of these videos on this are 10 to 14 years old, not many recent.

Awesome Patrick, can’t wait for the rest of the videos. Just picked one of these kits up not too long ago. Keep up the great work.

I did all mig on my cetme flat, it wasn't hard, the flat's gotta be like 16ga at least. Tig would probably be easier (other than those bushing weldments, I think squeezing a tig torch in there would be an absolute bitch), but definitely not a necessity.

I’ve had a full few kits laying around for a while, one even with the proper Cetme C receiver. I’ve been hemming and hawing about taking the plunge on a bending jig, also I’m pretty slick with a mig welder but I’d much rather practice up with my tig welder and do all of my welds like that.

these kits are priced the way AKs were 20 years ago. only problem with these kits are sourcing a good barrel that isn’t made by PTR.

Love the videos! I have a kit that looks like nos accept the bolt & locking piece. Those look like they have been swapped out. Could you cover if PTR parts could used on a rebuild. I know its all about head spacing on this rifle. Oh, btw i hope ur installing a paddle & a rail for optics. 🙂 Good luck!

Can you do a video on the install of the mag catch? That’s where I’m stuck on my own build.

One part of the process I don't see demonstrated often enough: After the receiver is assembled, trunnion pinned and barrel headspaced, how do you go about cleaning up the bolt guide rails, making them straight and snug fitting?
@ianloughney9570

You can use either a purpose built mandrel, or more often people will use their bolt wrapped in aluminum tape, which works as a mandrel pretty well all things considered.

One thing I’ve been looking for info on is going about fitting the front sight onto one of the PTR Cetme barrels. From what I’ve seen the barrels are just slightly thicker profile, If there’s something I’m missing that others have done to make this work I’m assuming the barrel will have to go into a lathe to be turned down. Any info on this would be great because it seems that’s the most common barrel offered

You could also 3d print the receiver itself. You don't have to flat bend the receiver. If you go that way Granted, the printed version does look ugly

I've got a parts kit and flat, what do you normally charge to build something like that minus any bumps in the road like missing parts
