My favorite book I sent to CGC was Thor 411 & Thor 412. The first cameo and first appearance of the New Warriors. One of the first comics I bought was New Warriors # 1 back in the early 90's. It got me into comics and into collecting. So when I heard they had actually first appeared in the Thor books, I searched until I could find them. They came back in a 8.0 & 9.4. Won't retire off of them but they represent my enthusiasm for comics.

This was my first time watching you. Very nice video. I have been collecting since I was 13 and I'm now 49. I've been selling for over 15 years. I'm passionate about comics. The first book I ever sent to CGC was a New God's #1 by Jack Kirby and it came back a 5.0. Through the years I've sent all sorts of books and I've only done 1 Signature Series. The SS was a BZRKR #1 1:1000 variant signed by Keanu Reaves. As to the one I was most passionate it's hard to say. I've had so many, most of which I've sold, and I can't say I was super excited about one over the other. The oldest book I've ever gotten graded was an Action Comics #50 and that one was most likely the book I was most excited about. Golden Age Superman kind of does that to you!
@MarriedwithComics

Welcome to the channel! Those are some incredible books to get signed and slabbed! I never got to see the 1:1000 variant of Brzrkr before it sold at my LCS. Understandably, it didn't stick around for very long. That's one heck of a comic to have as your only signature series! Atomic Comics 50 and New Gods 1 are gorgeous books too. I can certainly understand that after 15 years of selling that the excitement may dissipate just a little bit, but it's clear you still have a love for these books after all of these years.

Congrats JD! 🎉🎉 Great video, I’d never seen that three jokers cover 👏 I’ve never submitted to CGC since I mostly collect trades and HC collections but I always thought it’d be great to have a Bendis/Maleev Daredevil issue slabbed someday for my office or something. To this day my favorite run on a superhero comic

His work on Werewolf by Night, and The Man-Thing are my favorites. The Joker cover is awesome. Definitely slab worthy. Congrats to JD. Another great show.

@MarriedwithComics
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There's something about an unboxing video that draws us all in. Lol! Are you gets your comics signed or just getting them slabbed? The tips are a little different depending on each. The big thing - get it pressed. If you're just getting it slabbed, send it to another company to get it pressed outside of CGC. CGC pressers are good, but not great. If you're getting it signed, have CGC press it. That way any creases caused during the signature process disappear.

Hello first off just recently discovered your channel, congratulations on your 9.8. I have some books I went to send in but the constant stories about mistakes and long turnaround time make me procrastinate. I would say the slab that means the most to me would be my ASM 252. It's a comic I have had in my collection for close to 30 years and was in a batch of books the first time I ever submitted something to CGC. It sat in a short box for so long so I was completely satisfied with the 9.2 it got.
@MarriedwithComics

Hello Mark! I'm so glad you found us! ASM 252 is on my list of issues to grab eventually. I agree, the cover is so cool I'd be fine with a 9.2 too. So glad it made its way safely to CGC.

Great video, as always! Awesome Giveaway! Congrats JD! I have my CGC membership with $150 credit and I have also received all of the shipping materials from them, but I am still nervous about pulling the trigger on sending something. Honestly not even sure what to send either! You guys are obviously great comics fans! I am just curious what percentage that you consider yourselves investors vs comic fans? I would be interested in hearing more about your investment strategy if that is something you would be into?
@MarriedwithComics
3 жыл бұрын
We don't get as big into the investment side, but I dabble on very small levels when compared to others. This way the potential losses are easier to handle should a series not take off or if comic purchasing slows down. I'll try to incorporate that into a video down the road. Great suggestion!
@MarriedwithComics
3 жыл бұрын
When you're choosing which comics to CGC you have 2 options - 1.) The ones that have personal meaning. Who cares what the ROI (Return on Investment) is or how popular the series may be. If it means something to you, then preserve it. 2.) If you want to someday resell the comic, you want to get issue 1 or key issues slabbed. Key issues (first appearances of characters, etc) tend to hold their value over time. Obviously some characters go crazy like the Wanda and Vision keys skyrocketed when the series came out. Sometimes it's better to have a key/issue 1 for an indie title because the print run is much smaller. (SIKTC, Stray Dogs, Department of Truth, etc) A lot of times it's impossible to know which series is going to take off more than another. That's why we stick with the general rule of don't buy or slab anything that you don't want to keep. This way if it never sells or turns a profit, you aren't frustrated or feel like you're stuck with an ugly slab.

Hi new sub to the channel. Nice book with excellent sig placement. My most prized CGC book is my Avengers 4 1st Silver age Cap signed by Stan Lee. He came to Boston fan expo and I was fortunate enough to meet him get him to sign this book and JIM 112 but the Avengers book is my favorite. Got to shake his hand and thank him for everything that he has given us as comic fans. So not only is the book a key and a book he wrote but it has sentimental value to me as it was the last time I saw Stan Lee. Thanks for the content and I look forward to seeing more videos. 👊🏼 P.S. side note on the Ken Lashley art, you can't go wrong with any of his Black Panther covers. Check those out when you have a chance.
