Very difficult & challenge topic but you did an amazing job! Thanks for bringing the true facts & humanity to the world ! Wish the world full of love & free from fear & resentment. ❤
The essense of Ms. Chai's problem is that she tries to locate the answer to her question, even a deep and comprehensvie one, solely based upon a pre-set or pre-determined assumption or belief of free-will, debate, adhering to humanity. This was so clearly reflected in one of her comments that: the creation of Jihadism in europe was not because of freedom of speech, but due to the lack of full implemenation of freedom of speech. This is childish and naive. In the current ideaoloy trend of western world, freedom of speech is still backed by a fragile equilibrium of power, soical, political, or religious power, whatever u call it, and is built upon a solid wealthy and well-educated basis. However, such a basis, is not well-structured enough to handle external impact in today's scale. The flood-in of islamic immigrants doubles or tripples the need of social wellfare system , while the inevitable rise of Chinese industres will deprive Europe of substantial amount of high-end jobs. The lack of resources is the game changing issue. What is the cost of making even one enlightened jihadist? Social benefit, education, forum, policy power of stop potential attacks so that hatred will stop generating and repeating by itself? And What is the cost of making a jihadist? Maybe just a promise, even a fake one. This documentary highlighted 8 or 9 enlightened jihadist, but what about the tens of thoursands of jihadist, which group is growing in a faster pace? Is there even a close balance, or is the gap and discrepency getting larger and more distinctive? "Freedom of speech, peace and love, true understanding and respect of humanity" these are truly great visions, but they are not solutions. Most people live in a physical world, instead of a spititual or mental one. Laziness, or more specifically, intellectual laziness, is human instinct, while logic reasoning requies training and incurs cost. Depicting visons as solutions is not only oversimplification, but also dangerously stupid. It implies that maybe no hard compromise and sacrifice shall be made, yet sometimes freedom of speech needs to be surpressed in order to achieve it. The accomplishment of visions requies the a systematic solution, which may, in a certain long period of time, go against or seemingly defeat such visions. Can the believers in the western universal values reconcile themselves with that, or they are also self-imprisoned by their own belief, just as s jihadist? Still, my respect and salute go to Ms. Chai in this documentary, even though I dont believe her answer is even close. The questions , after all, are raised in such a courageous, comprehensive, and professional manner.
