American players are considered 'imports' and you can only dress out 16. Usually we are played at the skill position so the competition level it's still very competitive to make those positions. Our style of football was very different and then students from Miguel university came down for a friendly. The Americans sent the Canadians the rules but of course no video. The Canadians implemented the game as they interpreted it. Came down to play the school from the US. But discovered they misinterpreted the rules and structure of the game. So they decided to play both versions and then pick the best one and play a third. The version everyone liked was the Canadian version. And we’ve been tweaking it ever since. So having said that. Why haven’t the two countries worked out a game in feb to determine a more true world champ.

Don’t forget that HOF’er Marcus Allen of the Los Angeles Raiders, has a brother ( Damon Allen), who would spend his entire career in the CFL, as a quarterback, and retired as the number one passer ( 72,381 passing yards ), surpassing Warren Moon’s 70,553 passing yards ( both in the CFL & NFL). Damon Allen also lasted longer in the CFL ( 1985-2007), retiring in 2008, at age 44.

Not gone happen
@clarastallworth845
2 жыл бұрын
While it SOUNDS like a good idea, a merger between the NFL and the CFL is not gonna happen for several reasons. One is that they are based in two different countries, so if you're gonna consolidate the two leagues, you may have to either combine some teams while eliminating others to get it to a manageable size. That would piss off a lot of fan bases between the two countries (think the Chargers moving from San Diego to LA, or the Raiders moving from Oakland to LA then back to Oakland then moving to Vegas was fun, wait until the Toronto Argonauts decide to combine with the Chicago Bears! Don't worry, this is just imaginary!) Also, both leagues have different rules (although most are similar to the NFL), different field dimensions, and each have their own championships (NFL's Super Bowl vs CFL's Grey Cup). That also means a lot of jobs would be lost if a merger happens, and I'm not just talking players and coaches! Think of the people who work in the stadiums such as ushers, security, ticketing, concessions, vendors, maintenance, broadcasting staff, grounds crew, etc.

@@kevpersau950 the NHL actually started in Canada about 107 years ago, then expanded to the US, so all of the teams have the same rules and regulations. Today, most of the teams are in the US compared to Canada (35 in US, 7 in Canada), with the Philadelphia Flyers being the first ever expansion team to win the Stanley Cup (1976 and 1977). Lots of talent in CFL. It’s also near impossible for a Canadian citizen to make it to NFL. He either needs to impress the hell out of scouts before he’s 18 to get a D-1A scholarship, or as he plays university ball up North he gets a shot as a walk-on and takes full advantage. They should have a Pro Football World Championship game between CFL and NFL Champs. I know there's only like 8 CFL teams, but if you popularize a Championship game, you could see a merger. The CFL has to be willing to adopt NFL rules. However, with the kind of money they could make(being in NFL), I doubt that they would have an issue.
