Outdoor trip to make some wilderness-coffee!
With the kicksled we use the last strong ice of spring to visit some remote islands, where we know the mushroom is growing. Later on it will be dried and prepared on a beautiful lake nearby our home.

Following is what we found in books and internet:
Chaga is the strongest antioxidant found in nature which present-day science knows. It is an old folk medicine consisting amino acids, melanin, B-vitamins, phenols, sterols, polysaccharid, betulin and many minerals.
It supports immune system, balancing digestion as well as blood sugar, having altogether positive effect to health.
Boil at least 15min or till the color is dark. (tip: some of the substances are destroyed over 70°C, some are diluted only while boiling. Heat up to about 70°C on the first round, and boil the next ones). The longer you boil, the stronger is the flavor. Chunks can be used several times, as long as they release color (1-2 tablespoons to one liter of water).
Enjoy plain or spice with ginger, lemon, licorice, cacao or honey and milk. Our favorite is to put some anis seeds!
Do not use during the antibiotic treatment. Notice that some people might be allergic to mushrooms.
