CHAINS Sally Barker 1985
"I've been thinking about my past. Specifically my journey with recording and producing my own songs in my late teens and early 20s. I've been thinking for a while that I should upload some of my early efforts and this is the first." Sally Barker
Chains is from Sally's first ever vinyl release The Final Straw back in 1985. The Final Straw ep was self-produced by Sally Barker and Chris Watson on their own Stable Label SL001. The intricate line drawing of the cover was by Chris.
Sally wrote the track 'Chains', played the guitar and the Yamaha DX7 keyboards and obviously that's Sally on the vocals. Graham Milner played the amazing saxophone on the track. Chris programmed the drum machine, which was probably a Roland Drumatix 606 (although it could have been the Yamaha RX11).
The song was recorded on Sally's reel to reel Teac 4-track machine at Chickenshit Studios engineered by Chris and produced by Sally.
The Final Straw vinyl ep is apparently now very rare. Sally has got some copies ... somewhere ... in her house ...
