Nothing better than coming back to watch Buckin’ after taking a break from KZitem for a while. I absolutely adore this man. I don’t know him personally but the man that comes across on camera is so caring, genuine, & one of a kind. I respect almost anybody that is this comfortable with themselves.

Spot on, one thing that some people don’t realise is exactly what you said about running a rich low speed setting, it can limit your high speed from being able to go lean enough. Though I will open the butterfly a bit more than you did, when tuning the low, it helps you hear lean, peak and rich.

Personally, it seems like the saw is running lean. In and of itself not bad. The different mufflers are changing the scavenging effects and breathing with less back pressure.

I used to ride in Moto-Cross and the rules stated that the engine must cut out when the throttle is released. So we would have to tune the low running with some throttle stop screwed in, then when all was Ok, we would have to turn that slow throttle screw all the way off. One other factor with two-strokes is that the crankcase is part of the induction system. If you run a rich idle, then the crankcase will slowly fill with some fuel and after about twenty seconds the engine will die out with a rich cut.

Wonderful to see this video. My brand new 462 has been dying both before and after putting a bark box on it, trying to dial in my low jet has proved tricky. Seems I need to get my idle out of the way and then maybe i can hear it race and find the right lean.

Glad you're feeling better. That saw sounds great after the tune. Been running a couple modded 372s I have, one has a base gasket delete and a triple ported stock muffler; stock port, one out the front thru the bracket, and one on the right side, she's loud, but runs awesome. Thanks for commenting about language at the beginning, I really appreciate it. I'll happily let my boy watch your videos again 👍.

Hi Buckin, I have found the same thing your experiencing when going from a can muffler to pipes that flow a lot of air. It can make the idle circuit a little touchy with weather/temperature changes for tuning. High jet will also be a little fat going from a can muffler to a pipe as I'm sure you already know. A replaceable insert like the one Mark has made for your Ram horn pipe and the silver pipe you show in this video is very handy for tuning the pipe to the saw it's on. Looking forward to more pipe vid's.

ye very interesting that the muffler caused the saw to not idle. you would presume its gonna be a wicked pipe once re-tuned. when tuning i find having the low jet running wet (more fuel) gives quickest throttle response so i generally aim for that. i agree about trying to keep the idle screw as minimal as possible but it also has its place in the mix. shared between the hi, the low and the idle theres gonna be a sweet spot where all sings nicely. ill use all 3 screws to find the optimal setting and once done away you go. re-tune if necessary once the saw is up to temperature and operating in normal working conditions. a crack and a whip and away you go! 😄

I know this is an old video but it might be the fuel, not that it's bad or anything but I learned a long time ago when I was racing dirtbikes that if you change the pipe that sometimes, not always but sometimes you need to adjust your fuel mixture. I got a sponsorship and had to switch pipes and I fussed with my CR 125 for two days before I narrowed it down to fuel. It still ran but it just didn't run the way I wanted until I played with the mix a bit until I found the sweet spot.

Honestly, I learned to tune my saws from this, KZitem videos..so technically I guess I did learn from the best, guys with more year's of experience than I've been alive..one thing I've learned is that saws are kinda like a woman. Everyone is a little different. I turn here a tickle there..They're all just a little different. My point being, learn your saw. Just because they look the same doesn't mean the same thing works for all of em. Take your time. If you treat em right, they'll treat you right too.

Thanks for the great info, have a 371 that has idle issues, can't wait to try and adjust low idle. Also why do you pull starter rope when you shut your saw off?
@MJA-qp6os
Жыл бұрын
When some saws are turned off they pull back on the starter rope putting extra wear on the starter rope or other components. Pulling the rope helps to absorb and reduce it. Thus is helps with the longevity of the starter. Hope that helps. I've only started doing it myself since Billy explained it in another video.

So what would you say if you put a piped muffler mod on and it caused your saw to go a bit lean? This happened to me yesterday with my 365 special. No big deal, just crank the low out a touch and good to go, but I'm trying to understand what this means for the saw and the muffler? Good sign or bad. It definitely seems hotter now.

hi. a think with the pipe the fumes gois easier out from the cylinder and with the can muffler the fumes can not go out so easy.needs little bit more fuel so can idle faster . then the fumes can go out.have experience this with twostroke bikes.

Unless buying premium 92 ocatine or higher, yes all gas pump gas in Canada have some level of ethanol in it. Our government here in Canada passed law on it. Gas companies are required to add it to say something like 80% of all gas they sell. Since most buy standard 87 for their cars most companies sell enough that way that they are then allowed to sell their premium with our any.
