Before you replace anything, try unplugging from the outlet and unplug the battery backup for 10 seconds. I’ve fixed mine at least 5 times so far when it’s thrown this code.

The motor and travel module have a lifetime warranty but they will not tell you that when you call. I questioned them and I just received a new motor and module for free! Chamberlain is a great company! If it’s under 5 years old the logic board and the transformer is covered.

I got that code... i went to the unit itself, dropped the light cover, exposed the manual controls. The down arrow was flashing. I held the down arrow till the door fully closed and that was it, it reset. Took less than a minute.

Right on man! Yea, sometimes the door will come down on something triggering that excessive force code. The down arrow will blink. That signifies relearning the down pressure.

My issue wasn't the motor, but the actual chip on the travel module. I ended up ordering a travel module kit from Amazon for $35 and replacing the travel module (with chip) and I'm back in business. The only thing I ended up taking out was the main cover to do the replacement (without taking down the garage door opener).

I spent about 20 minutes looking for that dam thing. When it popped off it went flying into the driveway, in a bunch of leaves. Pain in the ass to find. So be careful if you pop on off. Mmm interesting don't see that symptom on the manual. Supposedly you either: 1 door travels 6-8inches back and forth = travel module / 2. you hear click when attempting to close or open = replace logic board / 3. Open or close door you hear a hum noise then nothing happens = replace motor....seems like you had none of the above.

rataflas Yep. It would intermittently work, per the customer. When I got there it wouldn't do anything. No buzzing, nothing, Dead. I called Chamberlain tech support because it was under warranty. I've had this error code if I reprogram forces it goes away but sometimes comes back. I called chamberlain and they said maybe a travel module if its losing limits. Because the motor runs fun otherwise. I would think it's the motor though. I also disconnected battery backup I think I read somewhere that may cause the failure.

@@garagedoorgenius I will try travel module as I have a couple working ones yea leaning helps sometimes they get oil in them from the chain when people lube it or dirt. This is not as easy as it looks. I had a water roof leak( ice dam on my roof) in my garage. The water leaked onto the Chamberlain garage unit, which is full of holes on the top of the unit. This cause the electronic modules to fail. This is a design flaw. If you want to avoid this rare possibility from happening, you may want to consider covering the holes in the top of the unit with duct tape or silicon. Local electronic parts are not easy to get. Need to order from their factory. The price of the parts cost as much as a new unit. They GOT YOU!!
