Excellent post. I have never installed brakes before and this video gives me the confidence to do so.

Excellent video. Nice focus on safety and a concise explanation of how the braking system operates. I was also amazed that it looks like you completed this work while on lunch break all dressed up and ready to go back in and complete a multimillion dollar deal. Thanks

Thanks for these videos. You did a great job with both video and the explanations. I finally tried to do this myself, and it went just fine. Thanks!

Excellent post! Good explanation of the various parts and how they function while demonstrating how to go about changing the brake pads. Thank you very much. You are a good teacher!

Thank you for the videos. All went well. I wouldn't have tried to change the pads out without a little instruction. Your instruction was complete and siimple to understand. Thanks again. Dave

nice video. if you notice the space or hole on the caliper, that is where you can wedge the flat tip of the handle on the tire wrench, to gently push the piston back by using the wrench as a lever between the caliper and outer brake pad (pushing outward should cause the piston to gently go back into the chamber). then you only need to remove the bottom bolt, and the caliper can get out of the way by swinging it up (i only use clamps if the piston is extra hard to push in) one more thing, never wait for the brake pads to cause scoring. periodically check the pads every few months. a less than smooth disc wears the pads prematurely, and doesn't provide maximum breaking power. i would replace those discs or at least have a machine shop smooth them out.

This was really great!!! I was able to change my brake pads. It was going to cost me $225 but I bought the C-clamp for $8. When I asked for the dog bone, the guy @ Autozone nearly did a double flip. It might be better to explain the dog bone tool better.lol.

Only thing, when pushing the Piston back don't put the clamp directly on the piston. For evenly dispersed pressure put the old brake pad in front of the piston and set the clamp on that so that the clamp is pushing on the brake pad in the brake pad is pushing on the Piston to push it back in. Better yet get an actual brake pad spreader. But still use an old brake pad between the clap/spreader to push the piston back in.

Sometimes if the piston is real hard to collapse then crack open the bleeder nipple. Some fluid will leak out have a oil pan or any sort of container to catch the fluid. Don't open the nipple more than a quarter turn and close it after collapsing the calliper piston.😊

I have an 02 sienna and the worst thing about this van is the small brakes. I have fought mine for years. both disc and drum. Toyota admitted to making these too small. These are Camry brakes. Great van I am getting ready to turn 200K in a month or so. I do all my own maintenance. Had it so far for 11 years.

use the old break pad against the piston ousted of having the c clamp directly against the piston. prevents damage that way

Bit of advice, never put your C clamp directly on your piston to push it back in. Always place a used brake pad across the piston and place your C clamp on the brake pad to push it in 👍 Pistons can seriously be damaged by doing it the way you have your C clamp. Great video otherwise. 🤙
