I did an experiment this week. I went to Target to return something and decided to browse, I set a timer for 15 minutes and walked around the store, reminding myself that I am not allowed to buy anything. It worked, I figured that for me, the most exciting feeling is looking/ touching stuff and imagining what they would look like on me/ in my house but not really act on it.

I’m like this too! But with online shopping usually. If I’m in a store, I feel like I should get something. When I shop online, I can put things in my cart and imagine having it or using it. Then after a few days or weeks, I think of reasons I don’t have room for it in my life and declutter the whole cart or never go back to that website. If it’s something I really want, I’ll come back to it several times, even when it’s not saved in my cart (not including repeated advertising).

So I've really been noticing I've been using makeup and instagram as a coping mechanism in order to distract me from the painful loneliness/leftout feelings I'd been experiencing last spring/summer. My shopping had never been so awful as it was then. To deal with this I've been sticking to a budget creating more budget beauty content and less content on general. I really don't think I would have made that connection unless I stumble across your chanel. Thank you so much for the insight!!!!

Subscribed because this was way deeper than most of the stuff on the topic here on KZitem. I really like that.

Oh, thanks. I just bought three diamond paintings and want to get two more, and I realize it's because I've been very bored with my work.

Omg...this came at a perfect time. I buy while watching KZitem so maybe moving the Amazon app off my home page will help. Rachelle in Seattle

Thank you for this video! I now realize that a trigger for impulse shopping is the thrill of getting a good deal. Marshalls and winners are the worst for me because it's the idea that if I don't buy it now, it might be gone. I'm the same way at thrift stores. So while each item is a great deal, I buy way too much and many items I don't need. I have not worked out how I'm going to stop shopping as it is a habit and I have no hobby to replace it with, at least I have identified the trigger.

22:50 “I would LOVE to join you, but I can’t afford to spend any money right now. If you pay for me I’m down! Or, we could [go for a walk, watch a movie at my place, etc.]” 😊 Might get a free manicure or dinner😉
