@@JD-ks5xy it's really a time and adjustment thing, your smell and taste may never be what it was, but every day and every week, every month, granted you do not have other conditions affecting you. You should see improvement and the longevity of this improvement will be almost insignificant that you will mostly forget it is improving until you taste or smell something you haven't or is different. Which is why I'm saying it may never be what you believe you remember, but will more than likely come back.

6-7 months from a brain bleed from a fall, couldn't smell anything at all initially. Now I can kinda smell my cologne that I use daily, but only if I smell it up close. Still can't smell new smells, only stuff that I smell daily e.g my cologne. Bought an essential oils training kit today, lets see how it goes lol.

Did you lose your sense of taste as well as smell? I fell 6 weeks ago, fractured my skull and had a brain bleed. I can’t smell or taste anything - need to wait longer of course as I’m still healing, but it’s encouraging to hear that after 6/7 months you have some improvement 👍🏻

@@debhan5779 sorry for the late reply. I didn’t lose my taste completely but it’s certainly reduced. Artificial foods and sweeteners tasted horrible for me after, and some chocolates taste disgusting now as well (like kinder bueno, high quality pure chocolate still tastes alright). But spices and salt etc I can still taste fine. Also most foods tastes similar now, it’s hard to taste 100% of the flavour compared to before. It’s been 8 months since I made that comment and now my sense of smell is still improving, just last week I could smell flowers again which I couldn’t before 😂, so I think we’ll be fine it just takes some time, it’s good to see progress even after a year and a half. Another funny thing is that I’ve been to the gym a lot, first few months it was fine. Then one day I could smell the gym starting to stink 😂, guess that’s one of the downsides (also shows that whatever scents you are around a lot, you will smell again).

After my TBI I lost my sense of smell and taste. Loving old cars you have to sometimes drive with your nose. Well I can't. That sucks. My taste isn't as much of a issue as my smeller. Thank god I'm married. I can't imagine dating without a working nose.....

I'm pretty sure your sense of taste is really your sense of smell. Taste is sweet, salty, spicy, umami, etc. It's not the full-blown flavour of the foods. If your wife has that, smell is still there. Did she hit her nose? Have you seen an ent? If it isn't an obstruction, it's inflammation somewhere through the airway.
